As much as I hate the Celtics, I have to say, I have Rajon Rondo on my Fantasy Basketball team, and I'm second place in my league. I also have Carmelo on my team, but I can easily say that Rondo is the best player on my team. That kid doesn't cease to amaze me. What a player. He's a quadruple-double waiting to happen (points, rebounds, assists, steals).
He's a stud, I'll give him that. However, he's never going to surpass Williams or Paul unless he learns how to do two things: make a jumper and make FTs.
I'd rather have him than Paul, TBH. Rondo's won a title, he's been deep into the playoffs and he has shown he can run a team full of ego's and talent.
He's also on a more talented team. Put Chris Paul on the Celtics and Rondo on the Hornets and see what happens. I'll take Paul any day of the week.
Be careful who you're laughing at, he might pull out all these outrageous statistics that don't mean shit because common sense tells you otherwise! Fuck, Rondo is a damn good PG. I hate the fucker, but I'd take him to run a team of ego's over Paul any day of the week.
i never said he wasn't good, just that he's overrated. he's a top 10 pg but towards the back of the top 10.
Maybe individually, I'm still taking Rondo to run a team with other stars on it. He makes that Celtics team along with KG.
paul, deron, billups, nash, rose, parker, and tyreke evans(for now, depending on whether he keeps his play up for the full season or not).
Deron Williams is my number one guy. Dunno why, I'd want him as my PG over pretty much every other PG.
Paul, Deron and Nash are ahead, the rest are all either tied or behind. If Rondo ever learns to shoot and starts getting 15 to 20ppg then he would be considered for top 3 pgs in the whole league. Good to see Laker fans not being biased and giving credit. (just like I give Kobe lol)
You're nuts. In my book, he's the 4th best PG in the NBA behind Paul, Deron and Nash. His defense and playmaking ability put him ahead of the rest of those guys, despite some of his offensive shortcomings. With Rose, I don't see how you can put him ahead of him. His jumper is about as broke as Rondo's is most of the time, he's just a better FT shooter. Defensively, Rondo is leaps and bounds better than Rose at this stage in their careers, and he's probably the better passer right now (though Rose is no slouch). Parker, I could see ahead of Rondo, mainly because of how good he is at getting to the basket. However, like Rondo, he still doesn't have have THAT strong of an outside game, and he's just as poor of a 3 point shooter as Rondo is. And Rondo, yet again, is the superior defensive player. Tyreke Evans...putting him ahead of Rondo is laughable. Did you look at anything other than scoring when you did this? Because that's the common thing with all these guys ahead of him is that they're better scorers. Evans has absolutely no outside game. Currently, he's got one of the worst jump shots in the NBA. He's got potential, sure, but his outside game needs to be refined; his shot is WORSE than Rondo's. He's also not what I'd call a good defender yet. And above all else, the kid is a goddamn SG, Geoff Petrie and co. just need to realize that. I think you just have a bias against him. At worst, he's the 5th best PG in the NBA. If he ever can develop a consistent 17 or 19 foot jump shot, he's top 3. If he can add a 3 point shot to his game and make FTs, the kid would be damn near unstoppable. And the scary thing is, all these things are things he can do, because he's what, 22, 23? He's got his best years well ahead of him, and he's only going to continue to get better.
Rondo may not have the prettiest jumper, but he leads all guards in FG%. FT% is his biggest weakness. He goes to the hoop and gets fouled a lot. He needs to shoot for a better percentage.
