Zero credit for POR. Amazing how he's trying to justify their loss. Newsflash, asshole: our own ancient players in Miller and Howard are playing 30+ mpg.
We probably won't get much respect until we go deep into the playoffs or at least win a playoff series.
Ya, they didn't even mention it was a back to back for Portland too or that we don't even have a center. sheesh.
I don't know how anyone could make excuses when we don't have Roy, Oden, Przybilla, etc.... They had Manu, Duncan, Parker, and Jefferson. The Spurs just aren't as good as all the pundits predicted, which I find funny because most of us called it last summer. It's the same old ass team that got destroyed in the first round of the playoffs last season. Duncan can't carry the team anymore, Manu is injury prone, and Parker isn't as special as they thought he was. Jefferson is a joke. The Spurs aren't going to do shit this year, just like last year, and I predict another first round exit.
When you lose you actually win.... that's profound. I guess the nets are gonna be in the playoffs... Probably gonna win it all even...
Remember Chuck's old quote, "If push came to shove, I could lose all self-respect and become a reporter."? Well, Chuckie, you HAVE lost all self-respect, but it doesn't have anything to do with being a reporter. When Chuck did that PATHETIC Taco Bell commercial, he hit rock bottom on the self respect scale. Go Blazers
The honest truth is.... Pop >>> Nate and his offense gets the spurs easy shots while the blazers offense is terrible and based on jumpshots, Blazers will NEVER win big with that type of offense, so i guess they do have some valid points, OTHER THAN THAT, gutty gutty win, love it
We got just as good of shots if not better as they did, especially in the first half. If we have Bayless in that 2nd half, there isn't nearly as much penetration as we saw from Ginobli and Parker. And go re-watch that last inbounds play for the spurs, McDyess set a HUGE moving pick on Dre.
Night quite how I remember last summer after they got Jefferson and McDyess. I have certainly never been a Jefferson fan so I know I called it, and there were a few others, but I remember it as most Blazers fans were calling for the Spurs to be the #2 teams out west. But you are right, they are just plain old.
Batum on Dirk. Batum on Deron. Batum on Parker. As he gets stronger he's going to be our go-to defensive stopper at the 1,2,3, and 4.
Several of us were pointing out that Richard Jefferson is merely a famous name at this point, not a good NBA player, and that the Spurs didn't actually upgrade all that much, if at all (and their principles were yet another year older). Some others wondered loudly why Pritchard passed on the chance to acquire the famous Richard Jefferson, only to allow the Spurs to snap him up. However, the people who said Jefferson was mediocre were dead wrong. He's actually become even worse than that, as his PER now stands at 12.5. But at least he's paid like an impact player.
You think Nate would have had Roy or Aldridge on the bench from the 8:00 mark to the 2:00 minute mark as the lead evaporates? Pop is a great coach, but if Portland lost the game in the same fashion as the Spurs, Nate would be getting blasted. You say Portland will never win big with the offense we run. Well we had a ton of 20+ blowouts last year running this offense. You say that the Spurs got easy shots, yet we dominated them in points in the paint. It looks to me like you are looking for a reason to complain and grasping at straws and overlooking the facts.
RJ needs to be more than the 4th option on a team. He's a free lancer also, so he needs iso's or else he's pretty much useless.
The problem is, he's not good enough to be more than 4th option anymore. He was a very nice player about 4-5 years ago. Injuries have robbed him of too much athleticism. He's now a reserve quality player who doesn't do well in a bit role.
