It doesn't matter if Roy plays or not. We will beat the Lakers. We could start Mixum, bintim, Entity, BuzzKillington, and myself and we'd still win.
Every time I think the season is dead due to another injury, the team wins another few games. So, I think they're likely to remain like this the rest of the year: one of the contenders for a bottom-half playoff seed.
I want badly to win the game against the Lakers, but not if it means jeopardizing our long term success this year (playoffs) and the years after. If Roy isn't at least 90% healthy, then I think he should rest. I would hate to see Roy aggravate his hamstring yet again.
I don't expect to see Roy until after the break, and that doesn't bother me in the slightest. As much as I love watching Brandon and hate losing, I'd rather have him healthy for the homestretch than hobbled for the rest of the year. The silver-lining here (gott damn but I've been looking for a lot of silver lining this season...) is that it has been fun and interesting watching the team find ways to succeed without our all-star temporarily. No, of course these next few games will not determine our season, and yes, of course I (along with every other red-and-black-blooded Blazer fan) want to see the team in the playoffs this year. But sweet Jeebuz, man, grow some perspective.
