Not saying we weren't, but I think it is hilarious that you guys still go under the saying that is "in KP we trust." Other than the draft he has brought nothing as GM. I won't be to shocked if he resigns Blake either. Whether you guys want to believe it or not, we need a second scorer behind Roy, Aldridge is not that, and I am not sure Rudy, Bayless, and Batum are that either. Oden can be, but he has to be healthy, and even though I am still glad we have Oden and that we picked him at the time, I am not overly optimistic he will play a full season. I think injuries piling on him is very possible.

And Gerald Wallace. Dang, he would have looked nice on this team now...

Re: OT: Dallas close to a deal

Gooden, at a 16.4 PER, is statistically a better player than anyone on the active roster not named Miller or Aldridge (and hopefully Roy soon). Howard is having a terrible season, and he's still more productive than Rudy right now. Why would anyone want Caron Butler for more than a year or two? He's been banged up over the past 5 years, his production is terrible this season (13.2 PER), and he turns 30 next month. I think Washington may be getting the best player in that deal (once Howard gets healthy again).

Let's not forget the Wade deal that KP whiffed on last year as well.

What trades last year, that were made at the deadline, made a shit load of difference last year?

Outside of the Billups trade last year, what trades have been done that made a difference in the long run?

Gooden is 28 years old, with a rebound rate over 17 and a PER over 16. There are a total of 2 players in the league right now who can boast those numbers, are under the age of 30, and don't play starters minutes. If he were in Portland, he would immediately be the second best forward on our roster.

In fact--if the Mavs are shopping him, why don't we try to trade for Drew Gooden? I'd rather have him start at center than Juwan Howard, and he could be our backup PF/C for several years if we were so inclined.

Re: OT: Dallas close to a deal

You're right--we should try to get in there and see if we can get the package that Dallas is offering up. Given the choice, I'd MUCH rather have Howard/Gooden than Butler/Haywood.

Dude, Gooden is a scrub! I don't care about your fancy PERs and your jazzy statistics, and your spinning of them to make Drew Gooden look good. As someone who rarely watches the Mavs, I can tell you on extremely limited authority that Gooden is terrible. Why? Because I said so!

The heavens are parting, the clouds are singing. Is that what one calls an epiphany? Is that what it's called when something makes sense with perfect clarity? If so, you just made as much sense as anyone I've read in a trade thread. Thank you.

I will now commence bashing Pritchard for not making a Howard/Gooden deal for table scraps.

Shall I bring up your fun you had when you disagreed with getting Biedrins from Golden State? Just because I don't value Gooden highly doesn't mean I should get all the flack, but then again, I realize not everyone will agree with me which is fine. I won't pretend like I am getting "picked on."

Re: OT: Dallas close to a deal

I disagree with getting Biedrins from Golden State because of his salary and the type of game he plays. I don't see how paying him ~ $10/per over the next 4 years to back up Oden and Aldridge is a good thing. I apologized for the "picked on" thing. I think that Boob guy and I are cool now. I didn't realize the attack mentality one needs to post here, and I adjusted shortly thereafter. Now, let's talk some more about how Gooden is a scrub, shall we?

I had no idea I went under that saying. Thank you for letting me know.

I think Aldridge is that second scorer, so shocker, we disagree. I think picking up Miller/Howard have been very good additions this year, so I guess we disagree again. And you say "other than the draft he has brought nothing".. Well the draft has brought us Roy, Aldridge, Oden, Batum, Rudy, Bayless, Cunningham, etc. etc.. so I'd say he's brought us quite a bit.

And if he's never done anything good but the draft, how did the term "Pritch-Slap" arise? From trades of course... So sorry if none of those trades occured at the trading deadline, big whoop.

I just don't think he's done anything that bad and he's done a lot good.

Actually, you need either the attack mentality, or the "I don't really give a care about anything anyone says" mentality. I tend toward the latter. Life's easier that way.

Re: OT: Dallas close to a deal

lulz, I am glad everything is fine now and you don't find posters to be "rude" like you once did and were kind of acting yourself just because I called someone a scrub who I don't view highly. It is great you are teaching me about him, he may be better than I think, but I laugh at the thought of a Howard/Gooden deal that the other dude brought up? So for one thing we have Howard who just hasn't been that great (yes, in my opinion), is a headcase, and of course takes time away from Batum. Then we have Gooden, who might be a fine player, but so is Haywood. For any injury problems people bring up about Butler, Howard has had some himself, so I don't get that.

Actually, all the trades that contributed to the pritch-slap term were draft-related trades. It's understandable that some might lump draft-day trades in with the draft itself.

Well, congrats. You're near the only one. :)

And go ahead, you can support KP all you want, I will do what I want and question him? Deal? Okay, great.

Re: OT: Dallas close to a deal

I like Gooden much better than Haywood--more cerebral, better offensive game--and I like Howard better than Butler--younger, more athletic, better defender. I could see the argument the other direction, but that's my preference.
