The Cavs are trying to get Stoudemire from the Suns, but that's not going to happen because they just don't have anything the Suns would want. That said, would it be worth Outlaw and Miller to get Ilgauskas from them for the rest of the season? The sallaries match. From the Cavs' standpoint, they could really use Miller and Travis to bolster their playoff chances. With Shaq and Varajao, they could afford to part with Big Z. For the Blazers, Ilgauskas would fill the void at center for the remaining 26 games and probably would ensure the Blazers making the playoffs. I don't see either Miller or Travis as being a part of the Blazers future...Miller due to age and Travis due to redundancy.

    Thoughts?

I'd rather keep Miller. Blake and TO I would do.

Blake and TO doesn't work. You'd have to throw in Webster or a couple of smaller contracts.

That works too. A Blake/Bayless rotation at PG would play us out of the playoff hunt I have a feeling. Gotta keep Miller until we have a better option.

Neither Ilgauskas nor Miller will be part of the future, but Miller is currently a productive player while Ilgauskas is not. And "need" isn't an issue either, because if you trade away Miller, you no longer have a good point guard. It's back to Blake...not Blake in one of his best years (like last season), but Blake in one of his worst.

As for Bayless, I want him to get more minutes but even as one of his biggest fans, I don't think he's at all ready to man the point guard spot full-time.

A Big Z rental is one of the better "rental" options, if the Cavs were to be interested, in theory. But if Blake + Outlaw doesn't get it done, I don't see doing it. As Minstrel pointed out, the Blazers can't afford to move Miller and wind up with Blake as the starter at PG.

But if the Blazers could do Blake, Outlaw, and a rookie contract (Pendergraph or Mills? I don't know how much more salary the Blazers would need to chip in) and the Blazers could get the rotation listed below, I'd seriously consider it:

    PG: Miller / Bayless
    SG: Roy / Fernandez
    SF: Batum / Webster
    PF: Aldridge / Cunningham
    C: Ilgauskas / Howard

    Uh, no.

I don't mind giving up Outlaw, but Miller is a keeper. Besides, I don't think Ilgauskas would make that much of a difference on our team. He's pretty slow and hobbled at this point, and he wouldn't get us a title. And if that's the case, why trade away two younger players for him?

Blake, Outlaw, plus all three of the rookie salaries isn't enough. Blake and Outlaw leaves you about $4 million short - need to add in Webster or some other not-cheap piece.

I've been a Big Z fan for a long time, but I think Miller & Outlaw, or Blake, Outlaw & Webster is too much for him at this stage in his career. He wouldn't be a bad pickup at C beyond this season, to hedge against possible future injuries to Oden and/or Przybilla, but not at the salary he's currently on.

I think the Cavs are nuts if they think they can pry Stoudemire away from Phoenix for Z. No way.

Are we talking about the real Zydrunas, or the one that likes to sell DVD's?

That's not completely crazy, if he's unhappy in Cleveland. Maybe he wants more minutes - we could give him that. And he'd be cheap. But we would have to cut Patty Mills or someone.

If the Suns waive him, there's no way he doesn't go back to the Cavs. He's said he wants to finish his career there, he seems to get on with LeBron, etc. etc.

So if we DID want him, and this Suns-Cavs trade is a go, we would have to get in on it, like this perhaps?

I don't think it would be worth it, unless Phoenix agreed to buy out Travis so we could get him back. But why should he come back, then? And we'd've thrown away his Bird rights.

Also, if we're going to give up that much, well I'd be amazed if the same package wouldn't net Dalembert, who is obviously a better defender.
