If Amare goes to Cleveland for Hickson, picks, and fillers, we can wave our championship dreams goodbye. I think if this happens, we gotta try and obtain a CP3, DWade, or Bosh (now, before anybody says CP3 and Wade aren't going anywhere, Miami has to be worried about losing DWade for nothing, and, last I've heard, CP3 isn't exactly happy in NO). And if you are not worried about this happening, you are plain crazy.
We couldn't in our regular season matchups, however, in the Finals, I think we would prevail over these Cavs. HOWEVER, with AMARE? I don't like our chances, honestly. I think Mitch should cook up some acquisitions and go through with them if such a trade were to happen.
Well Shaq and Amare didn't work out in Phoenix, why would it work out here? Unless Shaq was willing to ride the bench while Amare was in. The only way I could see that team being successful is if LeBron - Shaq - Amare could co-exist on the court @ the same time. If not, we've seen both Gasol and Drew dominate Amare. It just depends on how Cleveland gels together. And our losses to them came with Kobe all fucked up, Artest playing with two bad feet and Gasol with hamstring problems. I'm not worried about that. It is like last year when we lost to Orlando twice in the regular season.
Good point. I guess I'm freaking out b/c my lil brother is a major LeBron fan and is saying "Kobe is old, Pau is a pussy, LeBron is the best player in the league. Just look at their numbers." If Cleveland were to face us in the Finals, I would like us to thrash them. Also, I would like Kobe to put a stamp on it saying "sorry LeBron, as long as I'm around, you're only gonna be second best."
Amare could make Cleveland that much better, or that much worse. He'll only take touches away from Lebron/Shaq offensively, and we all know he won't play a lick of defense. Amare playing means less playing time for Varejao, who always kills us. They'll have three alpha dogs in Lebron, Amare, and Shaq. Who knows what'll happen in the locker room. Or of course they could just dominate with all that talent.
and to have a front running race with him agreed, it takes a while to work in a player of Amare's caliber into the offense, and the one guarantee is that the Cav's defense (which has been their biggest weapon this year) would take it
You assume. We don't know how well Amar'e would work in that system. He's never played on a team that's a defense first, halfcourt style team like the Cavs are. His strength lies in his athletic ability to move in a fast paced offense and get easy hoops in transition. The Cavs don't really run. I realize he's got a nice face up game and mid range shot, but I don't know how successful he can be on a team that's not running and gunning. I think he'll still succeed, but he's less dangerous. Oh yea, he also sucks on defense, and Pau, Bynum or Odom will have an absolute field day on him.
Those sources have been refuted though. Amare has since came out and said he wouldn't mind a trade to Cleveland. I'm still a bit mixed on the trade. I think it's a high risk, high reward type of thing. They have enough talent on their roster already to win a championship. They need guys who can fit with the team and know their role on the team, and both are question marks with Amare. I'd much more scared if they acquired someone like Jamison to be honest. But with Amare, they have the potential to be dominant, if he accepts a lesser role and everything falls into place.
It's a low risk, high reward trade for the Cavs. Big Z & JJ Hickson for Amare doesn't hurt the Cavs at all. I'd be worried about the Cavs if they acquire Amare. Not having an athletic 4 last season was the reason they lost to the Magic. Amare fills the void and you should believe his defense will improve playing in Cleveland.
Stoudemire will be a Cav or a member of the Heat. Sources say that the Heat have yet to offer anything serious, but PHX is holding out on them to offer Beasley.
Rumors have it that Chicago doesn't want to take on Sasha because they only want expiring contracts. How about Farmar - Morrison - Powell?
