I seriously hate this Irish stereotype. I would put money on that fact that the Irish, Germans, English, Scottish, Russian, Polish, etc, drink the same amount of alcohol, per capita. And on that note, I vote Russia.
Swedes would feel insulted not being in this. Drinking heavily is tradition going back to Viking days.
Probably true but I did once see a chart thing comparing alcoholism among Irish vs. Irish Americans. It was much more prevalent among the Irish Americans for whatever reason so the stereotype of drunk ass Irish Americans may have something to do with people believing all Irish drink more.
The average Russkie male lives to 58. There are a number of factors that contribute, but one is certainly raging alcoholism. So my money is on them. Personally, I know I'd much rather have a pint of Guinness or a nice shot of Irish whiskey than get hammered on vodka. But I'd probably be less discerning if I had to live through 20 or 40 Russian winters. Or had to live with the fact that Russian women turn from this: To this: spontaneously at the age of 24.
That's very true. All the Swedish people I know drink very heavily. Then again, they are 19-21 so what else would you expect?
I could, in my drinking prime, probably go head to head with an Irishman or German in drinking. No way in fucking hell I can hang with a Russian...ever.
but in terms of not being able to handle it (i.e. alcoholic) I guess Irish....actually JAPANESE. Those fuckers get hammered as shit.
