I am clearly in the minority, but I would rather have Tyrus Thomas than Marcus Camby. Isn't Camby past his expiration date? Thomas is underrated and has a productive future ahead of him. Camby is a stat whore who has never had a positive influence on a team, that is, when he wasn't injured, which has been a lot. Camby is just as much or more of a 'head case' as Thomas. I would prefer to trade our expirings for an upgrade who would likely be resigned next season (Thomas), than to ship them off for a half season rental (Camby). Eh. It's all fun to speculate. I love rumor season!
What role will Thomas have on the team though? Another young, inconsistent player, who would cost us a fair amount of money to keep for next year and doesn't fill a direct need (C)? I'm not sure what role Thomas has on the team. Camby at least could start and rebound and block shots (although is defense isn't what it used to be).
a clipper fans thought from espn boards... "Yes. Please? If for no other reason than the hilarity that would ensue when Portland had it's 3rd center suffer a season ending injury."
after listening to harvey today on the game 95.5... he is one of the worst radio hosts ive ever heard. painful.
Camby is less like fresh milk and more like blue cheese; does blue cheese really have an expiration date?
heres the most interesting part... by some chance should this deal go down soon like early tomorrow... camby would just stay in portland or maybe even suit up for us. anyway... with that said... im sure camby will be scouted heavily tomorrow night if no deal is done. a DNP will also say quite a bit.
I like Camby. He was amazing in the 1999 playoffs. And I know that the play of Webster and Cunningham have made Outlaw somewhat replaceable but it would make me unbelievably upset if we traded him. I'd feel sick. He's clutch, he has athleticism unparalleled on our team, and he's still extremely young. I say no to this deal.
