While he has his haters -- and both sides of the argument have merit (though neither can claim to be correct yet) -- I don't think anyone can question 2 serious talents that KP has. The obvious one is his ability to draft, but the less obvious talent of his is finding great value deals. Thus far, his value deals have come in the form of free agent signings. Pryzbilla, Blake and Howard are all examples of KP taking players that were thought to be roster-fillers, who turned into valuable contributors. However, if KP can find a way to get Thomas for cheap (Chicago is said to be determined to trade him, if they have no other suitors, could turn into a lowball situation) he (TT) could be KP's next "flip". While we all know that Thomas is a young, dynamic player with yet-untapped potential, it strikes me that he could actually fit in VERY well as a starter or 6th man. Here's where I think my idea gets "interesting" (debatable) -- Aldridge, while playing "power forward" plays better, both offensively AND defensively (my opinion) on the perimeter. Thomas on the other hand, seems to play better, both defensively and offensively down low. Though he's not a complete "banger" he's got the size, strength and athleticism to hold his own on the block. It would seem these two could pair well together as a "stretch 4" and a "strong 3". I'm not necessarily advocating for playing Aldridge exclusively at the 3 and TT at the 4 but I think a lineup w/ those two at the 3/4, Batum at the 2, and a healthy center could cause some serious problems for opposing teams defensively. Thomas seems to have what Aldridge lacks, and vice-versa. KP seems to like tweener positions and Thomas is certainly that, and what's more, even if he doesn't work out here he's a free agent at the end of the season - no harm/no foul, however a similar situation seems to be working fairly well in Dallas w/ Marion and Dirk. Just a halfway original thought, brought up in attempt to change the attitude of the board...
Tyrus just seems like the type of mid-tier swing players the posters here are trying to get rid of. Outlaw/Webs/Rudy/etc.
From the admittedly limited amount I've seen from him, he's much more of a "4" than those guys. I know Travis has backed up at 4, but Thomas, from everything I know, is more of a Shawn Marion-TYPE player, as opposed to a wing kind of guy.
I like what he'll bring defensively. That's what he should primarily be is a defensive garbage player. If he can accept that role and forget about being a scorer, something he's not good at, he'll be our Chris Anderson.
