He did a good job here. I am very surprised he pulled the trigger, and even more surprised he was finally willing to send those two players down the road.
For once I actually called it. I knew he had to make a deal: -We were just too reliant on an ancient Juwan Howard to finish out the season. -KP always cited "chemistry" for not making trades. Given the disastrous injuries we've had, there isn't really any chemistry to worry about. -What little chemistry we had was likely to get shattered as Nate tried to integrate Outlaw back into the lineup. -Blake and Outlaw were expiring anyway, and Cunningham/Bayless were more than serviceable replacements. -There was a serious chance we miss the playoffs without more help around the rim. You add it all up and he had to make a deal. I didn't expect it to be this good, though.
I didn't think Kevin would get anything other then another Green for Von Wafer deal done. I couldn't be happier to be wrong. That said, all of the good feelings towards KP die if he signs Blake in the off season.
For what? The only reason he made a trade was because Jesse Jackson was coming to Portland. With Blake gone we're not so Heimy Town'ish.
I guess that's a difference between us... But fortunately, it won't be necessary to bring back Blake, because we'll be signing the Bigger Better Blake:
