Just posted this on his facebook page. Good luck Trav! Travis Outlaw -I want to take a moment to thank the Portland Trailblazers for giving me the opportunity to play for them. Although this is a sad occasion it is also a joyful occasion. I say joyful because I'm continuing my career. It's sad because I will miss my teammates and fans. I hope that you all will continue to be my fans because you all are the greatest! With that being said, farewell! I love and will miss you all!
It'll be interesting to see where Travis' career goes from here, and how valued he is around the league. I don't know how much money he'll get next summer with such a big FA class expected. But I wish him the best. I'm sure he'll get a loud ovation when he returns to the RG when he plays for whatever team it is.
I willing be rooting hard for Travis every night . . . except when he plays the Blazers. (Maybe even then too, as long as the Blazers win.)
To our once longest tenured Blazer. He's in good company: Seasons played for Portland: 12 - Clyde Drexler 11 - Jerome Kersey 10 - Terry Porter 9 - Jim Paxson 9 - Larry Steele 8 - Clifford Robinson 8 - Rasheed Wallace 8 - Damon Stoudamire 7 - Travis Outlaw 7 - Buck Williams 7 - Kevin Duckworth 7 - Arvydas Sabonis 7 - Bobby Gross 7 - Lloyd Neal 7 - Mychal Thompson 7 - Mark Bryant
If he goes to a team in dire need of wing scoring then I think he'll flourish ... really (no sarcasm). I still doubt he'll ever be an everyday starter, but as a sixth man on a team without a true sixth man?
