What the EFF was Brandon playing for last night! Now his hamstring's hurt again? I just don't understand it! He said he still felt tightness in the hamstring and they still let him play! I'm not a doctor, but I've read about hamstring injuries and what I know is all that you can do is have the person REST. You rest it until you don't feel it anymore and THEN you can play. Our medical staff has got to go.
What the EFF was tlong doing this morning! Another medical staff thread? I just don't understand it! He said his fingers hurt so he couldnt use the search function! I'm not a mod, but I've read about finger injuries and what I know is all that you can do is have the finger REST. You rest it until you don't feel it anymore and THEN you can search & post. Our lazy posters have got to go. http://sportstwo.com/forums/showthread.php?t=153211&highlight=medical (another medical staff thread tlong started) http://sportstwo.com/forums/showthread.php?t=151293&highlight=medical http://sportstwo.com/forums/showthread.php?t=151121&highlight=medical
C'mon. Hamstrings are tricky. They heal when they heal. The only way to find out if they healed is to test them. I don't blame the trainers for this one. It's just been that kind of season for us. Hopefully, we're stacking all our injuries in one season.
Brandon was ready to give it a go. It's not the like medical staff can see "tightness" on an MRI, they have to trust the person who is injured. You should be pissed at Roy if anyone...
They can't see it, but they can hear him say it and he did. Again, everything I have read says you rest it until you don't feel anything.
You should also be pissed at Nate for allowing Brandon to play. If you are capable of reading up on proper hamstring care, he should be too.
The Medical Staff had nothing to do with this decision. This was Brandon and Nate deciding to give it a run. I really doubt on a hamstring "Pull" they have much input anyhow.
I'm unaware of the conversations Roy and the medical staff had yesterday. I know Mike and Mike were talking during the game that you can go through warmups without feeling anything, but it's impossible to simulate game speed. I'm unsure why someone like Roy couldn't simulate game speed, but apparently he couldn't. Had he gone "game speed" in practice or shoot-around, he would have known to not play.
It sounds to me like Roy didn't actually reinjure this hamstring, but that it still isn't fully healed, and he is limited in what he can do because of it. I'm not sure how that is the fault of the medical staff, but I certainly understand the frustration that posters feel.
Actually it sounds like Brandon didn't want to go, but Nate 'nudged' him into playing. So maybe we shouldn't be upset with Roy or the medical staff, but someone else.
I must have missed that one. After the game, Roy mentioned how it felt fine during warm-ups, but it started getting tight in the game. He said nothing about Nate pressuring him to play.
He didn't injure it anymore then it was. He just didn't feel he could continue playing at a level that would help the team.
Whether or not what has gone on this year is their fault, I think I would replace and overhaul the whole staff.
In my opinion, the medical staff should have a strong voice in deciding whether or not someone should play. The fact is they did (or at least should have) know that his hammy still felt tight. I don't understand how you let him play knowing that? I was absolutely SHOCKED when I found out he was starting last night. I just don't get it?
Actually, hamstrings are probably the easiest muscle group to treat. But they're also among the most poorly treated in terms of rehab work. They can linger like crazy or they can be solved quickly. It just depends on who is doing the work. The extent or location of the injury has little impact. That's why I'm hoping for the impossible -- seeing a detailed breakdown of what treatment Roy has had done on the hammy and by whom.
