I know he has be working on it over the years, but I see free throws as a tallent. If you're a guy that is drop dead bad at them, you can never ragain yourself and be good. Re: Shaq's Foul Shooting No. This has always been his weakness, and everyone has at least one. He doesn't need to worry about improving his FT shooting, he needs to keep improving on what he's good at in this stage of his career.
Re: Shaq's Foul Shooting When Shaq was a child he had a very serious wrist injury, thats part of the reason why he's never shot well or probably never tried, it's also why he NEVER shoots jumpers.
Re: Shaq's Foul Shooting I think his biggest problem when shooting FTs is that he only shoots with one hand which gives him very little control of where the ball goes.

As you can see, they always take Shaq out in the last minute to not be effected by his foul shooting. If htey can't fix his fould shooting which it seems that htey can't they should at least find a solution for this problem, which it seems as though they have.

Re: Shaq's Foul Shooting Yup, BCB hit it right on the ball. I wonder how much better a free throw shooter he could have been without that injury though.

He should have tried to fix it early on, but he didnt..When Im watching him, he puts the ball over his head before he shoots, thats part of whats going on I think. But to answer, I think he is too old to start trying to improve that now. Its too late..

Also do you see how huge his hands are? Shaq shooting a basketball is almost like a regular person shooting a tennisball. Shaq denies that is why he is poor at free throws, but it's gotta effect it a little.
Re: Shaq's Foul Shooting I think the reason why he cant shoot free throws is cuz his hand is bigger than the ball which causes him to grab the ball differently every time he shoots, this doesnt allow him to keep the same shot every time so he couldnt really improve his free throw shooting even if he wanted too.
Re: Shaq's Foul Shooting The scary thing is. If Shaq made half of his free throws he could average 35-40 PPG in his prime.
