Mayo is pretty selfish. He had problems sharing the ball with Rudy Gay this season. Do you really want to risk it? At the same time, Monta and Curry won't workout, so perhaps it would be good to experiment.

I just think from the standpoint that Mayo is 6'4", 210 pounds, and plays like a PG. He'd be a great SG next to Curry.

And, anyone would have problems sharing the ball with Rudy Gay. That guy is a black hole, worse than Maggette.

Still, it's a good point. I'm not eager to "get rid" of Monta by any means, but a young, big body at the SG position, who is a play maker for others, and is making only $400,000 the next two years... I think that would be an amazing back court to build around. He definitely wouldn't need the ball as much as Monta does, and my focus is to make Curry the man, so this trade would help.

Plus, it gives them nearly $10.5 mils in additional cap room for the summer. But really we'd get a top young player on the rise, who is big enough to really guard the SG spot...

When I heard this I immediately thought it sounded like some bullsh*t that someone inside the organization released (falsely) too boost Monta's ego and let him, and perhaps the rest of the league, know that they really do like him and aren't giving him away.

Seems like a lateral move. I'd say Mayo's upside is probably Monta, maybe a little more well rounded but not as good of a scorer. Mayo has regressed a little since last season and his team has gotten better. Monta is much, much better at getting to the rim and, again, I doubt Mayo will ever be as prolific a scorer as Monta. Don't think Mayo is much better than Monta in any other aspect of the game. I'm assuming the "extra contracts" are garbage deals that we're worse off with anyway.

I wouldn't mind this trade, although I'm hoping the Warriors end up with Evan Turner in the draft who could be an even better complement to Curry. 6-6 to 6-7 and 205 SG, will probably fill out to 210+, very Brandon Roy like. He and Curry together would probably be hands down the best backcourt in the NBA and so young, either one of them alone can kill you and they both have great ball handling and passing skills as well as scoring. Additionally Turner looks like he could be a great defender, and has the size, strength, and quickness to defend any guard in the league.

I bet we're one pick away from getting Turner. We always get some stupid draft pick number. How about give us the #1!? We've been bad for so many years and we don't get the #1 because the Warriors start playing well when there's no chance of making the playoffs. Out of 15 or so seasons, we've only made the playoffs once and we've never landed a superstar in that time either.

I'm glad we didn't make this trade. Sorry, I just don't see Mayo > Monta. Like others have said, Mayo has regressed a little bit and while a little bigger and stronger, he's just not Monta. It would have been a desperate move to help Curry. The better thing, as I've posted, is for Monta to continue to grow confidence in Curry.

I would have absolutely rejected that trade. Mayo can't score as well as Monta. He's bigger but still not big for a SG. He's no defensive stopper and I think Monta's D has really improved this year. I don't even think this move would help Curry, anyway.

We already have a top young guard. If we trade Monta, I want a big. There's really no other guard out there that I would prefer (that's realistic).

The Grizz needed to say, "We'll throw in some cash." at the end.

When does FA season officially start? Is that the same time trades can be made? That's the date we should all mark on our calendars. Sad, but that's the way it is for us Warrior fans.

Sad, but we have to hear what Larry Riley has to say. Then it gets pathetic.

Anyhoo, FA season starts July 1. Who should we get?

Not only are those FAs going to be available, but teams signing those players will free up other players as well, so there's a ton of opportunities. I think the Warriors not making a move at this deadline was probably the right thing to do.

If we had a decent GM, then we could've dumped Mags along with Monta to Memphis for OJ + lesser expensive garbage. The Grizz wanted to add some depth and the Warriors could've provided it. The W's are capped out.
