OT: My dad grew up in Torrance. He used to play football at "triangle park." And went to Torrance high school. Is it still primarily hispanic neighborhood?

I agree, but by the slant of this thread I guess that makes you and I both racists and sexists. Apparently you can't call a bad person a bad person unless they are lily-white and male. I have no idea what BD500 said and got banned for as it has been deleted, but I found nothing inherently racist in his remaining comments. That's one of the countless problems with censorship. History is erased and no lessons are learned. I can only go on what posts of his still remain. From his previous threads/outbursts it seems his anger is directed at people he considers bad, with no regard to race. Given his recent experiences I find the anger understandable. I'd worry about him if he had no anger. If some racial insults materialized in his comments, they were probably not meant as racist. Some words are just ingrained in our language. When you are angry at someone, you blurt out the first hurtful thing that comes to mind. You don't take the time to check your PC Dictionary. Even if you did, there is simply nothing bad a caucasian can say to insult a person of another skin color without being called racist by somebody. It's become an assumption that you are addressing the entire race, not just the dickhead who happens to be a non-caucasian. If you were mad at an overweight guy you'd call him fatty, or big tub of goo, without a thought. If it was a woman, you might call her a bitch, or the "C" word. I say bring back BenDavis500! His avatar indicates he has deep respect for this guy, after all: http://www.nba.com/playerfile/ben_davis/bio.html
Most martial arts instructors teach self defense in these terms. AS SOON AS YOU SENSE YOU ARE BEING THREATENED... 1. If you can, walk away. Or better yet, run away. 2. If you can't run away, use whatever means necessary to IMMEDIATELY AND PERMANENTLY remove the threat. 3. If you wait until you are actually attacked, your chances for survival decrease GREATLY.
Thoughts: Posters say the white guy moves to the front of the bus to avoid a physical confrontation while continuing the talk. But maybe his motive was offensive, not defensive. Maybe he moved next to the bus driver, the seat of power, so he could continue his loud diatribe in safety, and even convert the driver to become his ally. A couple of posters in this thread took the racist road. But when BenDavies got into trouble, they changed sides and attacked him. Kind of like the photographer. She says in the Post #91 interview that she went out with her camera looking for something to film. Like a good Director, she staged an event. But in her interview, she changes allegiance to the side in power and goes easy on the white guy. I don't know why posters keep calling the white guy the old guy. If he hadn't kept yelling his age (which apparently is his method to win arguments), I'd have thought he was about 57. He's awfully energetic for 67, especially with his mouth. Speaking of his mouth, did he bite the black guy or did he knife him? How do you get that much blood without a knife? I wouldn't be surprised if both men have been arrested, though I'm against an arrest. The legal system destroys many lives every day for such fights, ignoring which party verbally provoked the conversion of verbal activity into physical action. The human ethical system, evolved over hundreds of thousands of years, is often in conflict with the legal system, which claims to be more moral than all of us. The legal system feels that in almost all human conflicts, someone is totally right, someone is totally wrong, and someone should have his life ruined by several years in prison.
He dropped the N word 6 times in one post. He did it again in another thread I think, too. I just hope this isn't a week long ban. We don't need his kind around here.
I've stopped numerous fights in my life. I don't understand the mentality of people who "don't want to get involved because they might get hurt". I pity them and I think it's what's wrong with our society now days.
You're right, I missed the class where they explained that it's okay for someone to make racially charged comments to another person, continue to talk shit, and not expect that person to get upset.
I think all of the parties involved with this are at fault. The guy that got beat up should not have started the incident with the "shine your shoes" comment, continue with running his mouth, then start a physical confrontation. The "67" year old guy could have just as easily kept quiet when going to the front of the bus. The girls video taping kept the situation going by telling the either drunk, ignorant, or mentally challenged man to "kick his ass". The legal system should not be burdened with this. Publicly funded transportation should also be a privalege and not taken for granted. I say suspend all parties involved from riding.
man, the video panning over to the bench that says "keep our city clean and safe" in the last shot is genius. also, the dude is bleeding everywhere and stumbling around still saying "imma whoop yo ass" is hilarious
Why not? I believe people should be allowed to broadcast their stupidity. It saves me a lot of work trying to suss it out.
