It was a B and the Clippers got a B+.

I read his reason for both grades and I still have no clue why Hollinger felt the Clippers got the better end of the deal.

I wonder if the Clipper game last night changed his mind. The Clippers gave up 70 points in the paint. 70! I suspect not having Canby might have had something to do with that epic fail.

So, let's review. We already realize that Pritchard and company are very good at talent evaluating. But, there's much more to being a GM than drafting. You have to be able to sign free agents and make advantageous trades as well. Let's forget for a time that many of our drafted players have been acquired through a trade because that, well, that doesn't really help the kpee's a one-trick donkey argument, and focus on the other aspects of a GM's job description.

    <cough>

    - Pritchard was instrumental in TRADING Sebastian Telfair, Theo Ratliff, 2008 2nd round pick to the Boston Celtics for the rights to Randy Foye, Dan Dickau, and Center Raef LaFrentz; then TRADING Randy Foye to Minnesota Timberwolves for rights to Brandon Roy.

    - Pritchard was on board when Portland TRADED the rights to Tyrus Thomas along with Viktor Khyrapa to Chicago for the rights to LaMarcus Aldridge and a conditional second round pick in the 2007 NBA Draft.

    - Pritchard was solely the big cheese when Portland drafted the rights to Brandon Rush and TRADED those rights along with Jarrett Jack, Josh McRoberts, and cash considerations to Indiana for the rights to Jerryd Bayless and Ike Diogu.

    - Pritchard also acquired Rudy Fernandez and James Jones for cash from the Suns after completing a complicated TRADE with the Knicks, which in the end, resulted in cap space and, in turn, Andre Miller.

    - Pritchard acquired the rights to Batum from Houston after TRADING the draft rights to Darrell Arthur and Joey Dorsey.

    - Pritchard TRADED Sergio Rodriguez and a second rounder for the rights to Jeff Pendergraph.

    - Pritchard TRADED #24 in the last draft for #22 and selected Victor Claver

    - Pritchard TRADED a second rounder and cash to Philadelphia for Petteri Koponen

    </cough>

As for free agency, it was KP who flew to Prz's hometown to recruit him to re-sign as a Blazer. That went well for us, right? He signed both Outlaw and Blake as free agents. They posted career best numbers for us, integral in Portland's uprising, and were used to acquire Camby. Good so far. He signed Juwan Howard. Hmm, okely dokely. Oh, and after making a strong push for Hedo, and trying to pry David Lee and Paul Milsap from their teams, he did sign Andre Miller, who has played better point-guard ball than we have had in forever.

So, it must be that he just can't deal players in months other than June, right? Oh, what? He traded Outlaw, Blake, and cash for Marcus Camby.

He can draft. He can sign. He can trade.

Well, I suppose you'll have to fall back on the old "but he could've drafted this guy, could've signed this guy, and/or could've traded for this guy" argument.

    Whatever.

I think it'd be cool if you stopped bitching about other posters. Especially just about one poster. (At least spread it around... I'm a good target! ;) )

    Is that possible? Please?

I notice you're the only mod/person of forum authority that tells people what they should be posting. If they cross a line or break a rule warn them or ban them otherwise just let people express themselves how they want.

(How's that for spreading it around? :devilwink:)

I'm with SPD, here Ed. If I'm breaking the rules, ban me. I'm ok with that, if that's what you think is appropriate.

The fact is that MANY here think MIXUM should be banned, but all we hear from you is that he can post what he wants to within the rules, quite calling him a troll, ect. I think I post within the rules, yet here you are telling what I can post.

Imo, MIXUM sucks the fun out of this board. If I want to suck the fun out of his constant trolling, and I'm not breaking the rules wtf is the problem?

MIXUM is flat out wrong on the vast majority of his rants. Why the hell shouldn't he be called out for it?

I don't think anyone is saying you're breaking the rules or that you can't post these things. I think Ed was just making a request.

But if you really believe he's a troll, why on Earth do you think you're "sucking the fun" out of his trolling? Trolls want attention...that is their entire raison d'etre. That not only includes negative attention, they actually prefer negative attention.

So, if you believe he's a troll, you're choosing to encourage him.

But it's up to you, of course, if you wish to do that.

geez, are you saying we should attack the post not the poster??? What a novel idea. Instead of thread after thread filled with petty personal sniping this could steer the conversations towards actual basketball talk. While this would serve the interest of those of us who like to talk Blazer hoops, unfortunately it's probable that some here just want to fight with strangers they'll never meet :dunno:

Anyhoo, thanks for the great suggestion, hopefully it takes hold

In the time I had before work, I didn't get to respond as I would have liked.

First, isn't this the exact kind of thing that mods always tell posters to do by PM? What made you decide forgo that advice and call me out on the forum?

Second, if you are going to make a case that you were just asking nicely for me to back off, there are lots of ways to say what you did without using the term bitching. Same with inviting me to spread the bitching around, and saying you're a good target. If you were the one saying stupid, disrespectful and inflamatory shit every day, I would have been calling you on it too. Seems like you are just spoiling for fight to protect the poster I bitch about.

Anyway, if the poster in question is to continue saying the shit he has in the past, I'll reserve the right to discuss just how stupid what he writes is when he's wrong. If I cross the line, I'll live with the consequences. I'm sure you'll let me know.

As I noted above, there are lots of ways to make a request that doesn't come off as a threat/challenge to fight, the most obvious being to do it by PM.

I'm not so sure that he really enjoys my attention that much. He tends to disappear when he is called on the nonsense he writes. What you say may have merit though, and I'll give it some thought.

I think it would be cool if you'd quit acting like *edited* all the time. But I know that's not possible. Everyone knows who the idiots are, and for you to constantly protect the idiots while calling out intelligent posters, especially for such a non-inflammatory remark, is a fucking joke. Get your shit together or quit pretending to be a moderator.

Because you posted approximately five posts attacking MIXUM in the span of a couple of days. And because I wanted to let you (and others) know that while it's not worth editing or suspending or whatever, I'd prefer that everyone keep it civil and discuss posts, rather than posters.

I'm not spoiling for a fight about anyone.

    But you have been bitching.

You've been posting non-basketball-related posts, goading him into trying to defend himself or take umbrage with what you're saying. If I remember correctly you posted back-to-back in one thread, just to get in additional shots at him.

Say what you will about MIXUM, but at least he posts about basketball... which is the reason the vast majority of us are here.

    Cool.

So, you decided to make an example of me, instead of following your own advice about PMs. As you say, Cool.

So your intent was for me to bitch at you and you would just take it? That's not the Ed O that we all know and love.

I never said that I was or was not bitching. I was saying that saying that is not how you ask nicely. No biggie anyway, consider it what you will.

Let me ask again. Why shouldn't he be called out when his mindless bs is proved wrong? Maybe you can be more specific about the posts you are talking about so I learn to be a better poster. The shotgun approach doesn't help much.

He posts nearly 100% negative bs, and is nearly always proven wrong. Why shouldn't I be allowed to discuss his posts after time has shown how silly he is?

    Whatever.

You are just a ray of sunshine today, STOMP. You always know how to say just the right thing.

Before you go getting all self righteous, how about a stroll down memory lane?

Seems like you might just be attacking the poster instead of the post, wouldn't you say?

    Just talking ball?

I could see where hasoos might have felt attacked here, even if he didn't give a shit that you did.

I just gotta say, STOMP, this seems like attacking this poster too.

Not to beat a dead horse, but just say'n.

There are plenty of additional examples if you'd like to see them.

Mr. kettle, you are black. Signed Mr. Pot.

Feel free to keep taking your cheap ass shots from up on that high horse.

Since Sunday you'd made 26 posts on this board before I made my comment. Over half of them were aimed negatively at MIXUM.

Do you really need specifics why that might be something that I might ask you do stop?

Sure you can. But over 50% of your posts? I'm not even saying you CAN'T do it. Just consider not. That's all I'm asking.
