Thanks to Lanny, I got to attend the season ticketholders' event tonight @ Big Al's. Got to meet LMA, Rudy, Dante, Jeff, and Patty. All the coaching staff was there, as well. Wheels held a fireside chat with the coaches while the players spent time bowling and playing various games with the crowd. The place was rockin'! Anyway, thanks, Lanny!
They found a bit more cancer, but are gonna attack it with radioactive dye (I think). All said, they feel pretty good about the prognosis and pending treatments. Lanny was in FINE spirits tonight! Reveling in all the fanfare and festivities! What an awesome event! A good time was had by all!
Big Al's was packed out! Players and coaches had a mass interviews session, then broks out to mingle with the fans. Great close-up and engaging activites throughout the joint! I doubt they do anything else quite like this. Free food and soft drinks! (I bought Lanny a "real" drink, though. ) Michael Holton sat with Lanny an I for dinner. I asked hom if he ever got on the message boards. He gave me that deer-in-the-headlights look, so I left it at that.. May buy some insurance from him, though. Again, it was a fun-filled night with the players and staff without any strings attached. Very, very cool!
Why weren't YOU there? I mean, after all, the stunt team was! (and Blaze and the Blazer Dancers, to boot!)
Nah, I stupidly pasted Antonio Harvey's Facebook page in these parts. Got into BIG trouble with him! It all worked out, though. He's a class act.
Saw Dante today myself. He was at the 5 Guys in West Linn. Two things: 1. A real gentleman. He held the door open for me. I'm 27, average dude, but he was very nice and held the door open for me. Was just a very nice, gracious dude. 2. He had 2 smokin' hot ass girls with him. Lucky bastard. Livin' the dream! Go Dante! I was already amongst his biggest fans, but he earned some big points with me today.
Not surprising there. Dante is usually the guy most girls bring up when they're asked who the best-looking Blazer is.
Sorry ABM. Didn't mean to digress from the thread. You mentioned meeting Dante and I had to give me $0.02. I just wanted to say that the guy embodies everything this franchise has been striving for. I was worried with the Blazers making moves that he'd be dealt. Every team needs its' role players, and while he could be more than an average role player, I think he'd be satisfied as such, and that really is important to a team's chemistry. Anyway, jealous you got to go. My co-worker was supposed to go, and I was going to try to tag along, but we got stuck at work. No Roy?
No problem. Nope, no Roy. Was he scheduled for tonight? I had heard they did one last night, as well, for some of the other Blazer players.
LMA said he's been over to Rudy's house and there's a veritable disco room...with all the flashing lights and the whole nine yards in there. Said that Rudy is Mr. DJ Man! Absolutely kills LMA at DJ Hero.
Haha. That's awesome. Sounds like a cool event in which players aren't afraid to be themselves and tell you about their lives. I really like this group of players we have. They all seem like level-headed and regular dudes who just happen to make more than the rest of us. Easy guys to root for.
