Tonight, Nate said don't be too surprised if, at certain times, we see Camby, Howard, and Aldridge on the floor together.....with LMA playing the 3. Sweet.
I hope that only happens if we happen to be matched up against the Lakers playing Odom, Gasol and Bynum at the same time, or another team with a similar frontcourt lineup. I really don't like the idea of Aldridge defending your average SF.
Well, since he can't play Blake anymore thanks to Camby...I'd say yes! **I just had to try the Nate Hate Bandwagon for a second...doesn't feel right for me, though...
Or Camby, LMA and Nic ... Howard and Camby on the court ins't bad though, just because they know pretty much every trick in the book.
Having those two vets on the floor together for brief stretches (so howard doesn't fall asleep) I think might be VERY interesting!
Cool, as long as Aldridge is never trying to guard Pierce. I like going big as in Roy, Webster, Batum, Aldridge, Camby better.
I think Aldridge, with his quick feet, wouldn't do too bad defending most 3s... it's his ball handling on offense that would have me worried. Then again, why? Camby+LMA+Nic is the most obvious front court choice for me, if it weren't for Webster, who we have to baby if we want to get production out of him.
Together they are 72 or something. Maybe there will be a senior discount on the opponents free-throw line (if they are fouled, for example, while making a basket, they will get an "and 2" instead of "and 1" - being seniors, the 2nd and-1 is free.
He does. But he has been rebounding pretty good lately. I thought the first game after the break, he looked refreshed. He even added his drop step move back into his arsenal, which had been missing for a lot of the season.
http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/a/aldrila01.html People dog aldridge for his rebounding, but most people fail to acknowledge the fact that he's added a full rebound per game and for as much as he's switched out on perimeter players his defensive rebounding percentage is at a career high of 20% (vs. 15.5 his first three years in the league). The biggest areas he needs improvement in are his offensive rebounding, his trips to the free throw line, and quite frankly he should be taking 3 more shots per game with his 50% field goal percentage. I think it's easy to get disappointed in LMA because he hasn't had the same growth curve as Brandon and he does seem to shy away from contact and he does seem to have regressed in his ability to contest shots, but considering his age and his diverse skill-set I still think he's got another jump in performance in him.
I have actually been wondering if for a lot of this season if he hasn't been playing banged up. Just watching him out there, it seemed to me that he wasn't doing some of the things he had been doing in the past. Then all the sudden, right after the all star game, some of the things that had been missing, amazingly showed up again. The drop step move. More paint action. I also agree, that with his shooting percentage, he should shoot more. If you shoot a high percentage and outrebound your opponents you will win a vast majority of the games you play. Amazingly enough, Portland has won about 90% of the games that they have outrebounded their opponent since Pryzbilla went out. By having Aldridge take more shots, the efficiency makes it in itself harder for the opposing team to outrebound your team, without Alridge actually getting more rebounds himself.
I really don't understand the Aldridge hate honestly. He is what he is. I've never had super high expectations for the guy. I suspect he'll reach the All-Star game at least once or twice in his career, but he's not going to be a HOFer and I really only expect him to be a 2nd or 3rd option on offense. Does he have the talent and potential to be more? Yes, but I've learned to temper my expectations for young players. With that said, I think I let my expectations off the leash in regards to Rudy, and I've been wildly disappointed since the summer Olympics. He's exciting, but he isn't the player I thought he'd be. I think he's had a dip in production this season due to the injury, and I also suspect his heart isn't into it. I've said it before, but I do not believe Rudy will be on this team for more than one more season. I like his game, but I don't think he fits in here.
I don't like how he went from defensive stud in college to almost-adequate-2nd-scorer. I don't like that he takes a lot of 20-23 footers. Take a step back and Channing-Frye-it for 3, if you want to show off your jumpshot skillz. But play some inspired D.
