He basically coached the team that dominated the league for like an entire decade. Also, like Zards said, Jackson had the team layed out for him, Auerbach put it together and kept it together for a long period of time. The bottom line for me is that I would rather have Auerbach coach a NBA Finals seris, not Jackson.</div>Auerbach dominated a league of 12 teams, where most teams talents levels werent probably at even a high school level.

Red Auerbach. He had more titles than fingers. You cant beat that.He coached that dominate Celtics team to perfection. He did a great job with them, no one could stop them, he deserves it.Right now is Phil Jackson or Greg Popovich.

I don't agree with Greg Popovich, unless your talking about current coaches. Phil Jackson, Larry Brown, Pat Riley and Jerry Sloan are the cream of the crop of current coaches. But they all had their success at an earlier stage of their careers. Pop is the best coach right now.

You can't really compare the eras of Red and Phil, because the league is more based on athleticism and the three pointer- which none of them had. Plus, there are way too many fouls now, not enough back then, or at least in my opinion.

This season has convinced me it's Phil. I don't believe any coach do the job he did this year.
