Re: UFC 110: Nogueira vs. Velasquez (Feb. 20th)

    Notes on the event...

-- The winner of Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira and Cain Velasquez will be in line for a title shot but that will not be soon. Brock Lesnar is sidelined until summer (UFC 116) with Frank Mir and Shane Carwin fighting for the interim heavyweight championship in the meantime (UFC 111, March). With the unification match all but a certainty, the loser of Mir/Carwin could face the winner of Nogueira/Velasquez, unless they are willing to wait six or more months for their chance at the unified strap. The winner of an upcoming fight between Junior dos Santos and Gabriel Gonzaga is in there somewhere as well.

-- Australia natives George Sotiropolous, Elvis Sinosic, and James Te Huna compete in their home country at UFC 110, the first trip to Australia for the UFC.

-- Mirko Filipović returns to the UFC following a devastating loss to Junior dos Santos at UFC 103. He faces Ben Rothwell who lost his UFC debut to Cain Velasquez at UFC 104.

-- Goran Reljic has been away from the UFC for nearly two years due to a severe back injury. He last competed at UFC 84 where he knocked out Wilson Gouveia. The BJJ brown belt rescued a person from drowning in the meantime, making him more man than any of us combined.

Re: UFC 110: Nogueira vs. Velasquez (Feb. 20th)

This event has some potential. Nogueira vs. Velasquez is very intriguing and has major title implications. We get to see if Bisping is ferrealz, or if Silva still has something left in the tank. Cro Cop is getting a pretty easy opponent so if he has any fire burning inside he should get back in black.

Also, Goran Reljic kicks ass. I hope he can stuff CB's takedowns and fix his lip for him with a high kick or ten.

I'm really looking forward to this event. Plus it looks like it is running live on PPV, not tape delayed so that is nice. Don't have to worry about spoilers.

Re: UFC 110: Nogueira vs. Velasquez (Feb. 20th)

I thought this event was going to be tape-delayed but instead the UFC has decided to go live at 10:00PM EST--meaning the event is taking place in Sydney on Sunday afternoon around 11:00AM if I'm not mistaken (+11 hour time difference). Which is good.

For anyone who hasn't been keeping up with Mirko, the guy fired his training camp recently and moved his training to Holland.

He says he was complacent and that because he was training with friends, nobody was giving 100% for fear of hurting each other.

In Holland he says he's been "fighting for his life". Hopefully he has a better performance than what we've typically seen of him so far in the UFC. Supposing Rothwell doesn't try to lay on him he should get a big KO.

Re: UFC 110: Nogueira vs. Velasquez (Feb. 20th)

    Betting lines are up...

    Velasquez -130, Nogueira even
    Silva -155, Bisping +125
    Stevenson -290, Sotiropolous +230
    Bader -165, Jardine +135
    Filipovic -160, Rothwell +130

As always, negative numbers indicate the amount of money needed to bet to win $100. Positive numbers indicate the amount of money won on a $100 bet. Nogueira's even line indicates a dollar-for-dollar win. Technically he is the underdog but only by the slightest of margins.

I really have a hard time seeing Sotiropolous winning against Stevenson. That line is pretty good if you want to bet on Joe. Probably should be like -500.

I'm worried for Wandy, TBH. I'm hoping he can be really fast @ 185 because if not, Bisping is just going to stick and run like he did to Leben and like he tried doing to Hendo.

 Here is to the old Wandy comin' back!

Crocop wrecked that guy. I'd still look forward to seeing him fight against Rothwell.
