Is the reality setting in that we are a roster with very average players?

Lets face it, this team isnt as good as you thought they would be. i realize Roys hurt but when you see us vs a top team, you can see so many little things. For example....

Batum - why does thsi guy get such high praise? his defense is awful as of late, he still cant (and never will) shoot a god jumer, he has no dribbling skills yet people on here make him out to be the next Tayshaun Prince. Really?

Rudy - Pleas etarde this guy this summer. Like i said earlier... as many good plays Rudy makes, he makes about 100 more bad ones. Rudy is the new cringe player.

Bayless - no jumper whatsoever. If hes not running you over with his head down... hes committing a bad foul.

Webster - Only Martell could make 7 threes 2 nights before and only make 1 three in garbage time. Did he even get a shot in the first half?

I think the problem with all of the above is... NONE OF THEM ARE EVER CONSISTENT. Its beyond that.... they are coin flips. We cant go far with guys like that. Next time someone screams with the thought of getting an all star for one of them.... go watch tonights tape or any tape when we play a good team. i really wonder if we will miss blakes scoring. It aint gonna come from Rudy. He is borderline AWFUL

You should probably just become a fan of another team.

NICE! 5 game winning string starting Sunday.

You are absolutely clueless when it comes to talking basketball especially about the team you allegedly follow the most...

But you are bang on with Batum.

    (Blind squirrels etc.)

He's so overrated it's unreal. The fact that no one else can play a lick of defense on this team (save G.O.) has turned this guy into some sort of bizarre local legend.

That being said, It is not the players who are average, it's Ronald McDillon. Someone like Richard Adleman would destroy with this team.

And he certainly wouldn't make Brandon Roy the assistant coach.

Um.. we're not trying to be one of "most teams." We're trying to be THE team that wins it all.

Nic was guarding Ray Allen when he lit us up. I don't understand why everyone thinks he's the next Pippen. And why people think he's just fine instead of Durant who is the real deal and pretty much the same age as Nic.

This is dumb. Why does there need to be a new thread after every single game about each players potential?

Match.com where Mixum and Kingspeed find themselves on an awkward first date.

Who ever said they'd rather have Nic than KD?? That's ridiculous. But so is the notion that Ray Allen lit anybody up last night. The dude runs through about 4 picks. It takes TEAM defense to keep him in check. ONE GUY can't run through all those picks. Nic tried it last night a few times, and it wasn't pretty (He did have some sort of flu or cold last night and almost sat out) As a one-on-one defender - he IS the real deal. And he's only going to get better. Offensively? He won't score 18-20 like Pippen did. But I think 13-15 isn't out of the question. He can shoot - I watched him in pregame a few weeks ago - I think he missed one or two of about 15 three point attempts. We've seen flashes of that as well in games - he's shooting 44% on 3's since he's been back. In his career so far, if he misses a few shots, or gets blocked, or turns it over he shuts it down. That's part of being 21 and not having a ton of confidence. He will be a good player, there's no doubt about that. But "Pippen" good? That's a tough comparison to live up to.

I do think several, if not all of these guys are overvalued and overrated. I think everyone not named Roy, Aldridge and Oden are anywhere from being decent to being good players. They all show flashes. But none of them have come close to being consistant.

Relax. We are going to take some serious lumps when playing with young guards in the lineup. Some of them may turn out good, and some of them may not turn out good. When young teams play a veteran Celtics team that has been to the conference finals/nba finals the last 2 years, you are going to get your teeth kicked in.

All players play better when there is a star to take the pressure off of them.

No, but reality has set in that certain fans don't live in my reality and that troubles me.

A few of Allen's three's came in transition or off of offensive rebounds - in neither case was it a set defense that he was shooting against. Batum did a respectable job, but once Allen gets in a rhythm, like a lot of players, there's not a lot you can do to stop him. You can try to get the ball out of his hands - but with a team like the Celtics, you start opening holes that other players can exploit (and seeing Big Baby "light up" the Blazers in the 4th was as tough to watch as anything Ray-Ray did).
