Well, not the Camby move itself, but..............a new twist I wasn't aware of. FWIW..... http://www.hoopsworld.com/Story.asp?story_id=15376
Considering the team's history, it would be a long-shot a best to get LeBron. Of course, just having a chance at him is certainly worth taking. Even if they do somehow get him, they will have a tough time staying under the cap limit, as they need to sign others to fill their roster.
If you have Lebron, Eric Gordon, Baron Davis, Chris Kaman, (a healthy) Blake Griffin and Deandre Jordan all under contract, you can round out spots 7-15 with d-leaguers and vet minimum guys and still win big.
Agreed, but I wouldn't be shocked if they got a pretty good free agent pick up, maybe somebody like Rudy Gay and then they'd still have enough money to add Blake or Camby back into their fold (and from what you hear out of Clipperland, the team seems to really like Steve so far )
Well, the Clippers do play in LOS ANGELES. They have several good-to-great pieces to put around him, as Nik said: And considering LeBron would get sole credit for 'turning that franchise around' it would make a hell of a made-for-NBA Hype story. Plus, can you imagine how much Stern would love hyping a real LA v. LA, Kobe v. Lebron rivalry? I wouldn't count it out.
I could see Bron in LA before I could see him in NY. The Knicks won't have much else on their roster if he signs there. Even if they can get LeBron AND Wade or Bosh, that team won't have anything but DLeaguers and vet minimums on their team. A lineup of Baron Davis, Eric Gordon, LeBron, Blake Griffin and Chris Kaman is pretty damn good. I'd say almost good enough to win a title next season.
And (as has been mentioned before) LeBron could pretty much name the coach he'd like to fill the vacancy that's going to be there.
From a talent standpoint, LeBron would be hard pressed to find a better situation. It's still the Clippers though, owned by Donald Sterling. For that reason, I can't imagine LBJ choosing them.
In the back of LeBron's mind he has to be thinking he might have a career altering injury if he signs with the Clippers.
