<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Waqas @ May 13 2006, 10:56 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Here is a NEW sidenote to the game lots of you didn't talk about. Dirk went to the line a LOT, but also tied the record for most free throws made in a playoff game. Dirk made 21 out of 24, which tied Paul Pierce's 21 made out of 21 in a playoff game in 2003.Dirk ALSO became 3rd in free throws attempted in a playoff game. Shaq is still first at 39 attempts, as well as being 2nd place at 27 attempts, but only made 31 of those two games combined 67 attempts.</div>Great, now you have something else to put in your sig. Yeah Dirk was pretty good tonight though.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>When dirk went down, i had flashbacks of 2003. Good thing he was fine.</div>Yeah, same here. Thank God its not serious. :worthy:
^Me too.Now 2 really INTERESTING side notes I've just found out to be true.Since TD has joined the Spurs, they have never won a series being down 2-1...and the last time that happened was 04' when the Lakers had them down 2-1.And Dallas has never lost a playoff series after being up 2-1...Now you have to take both those into context, but history is hard to ignore.I like how Dirk finally broke out this game, even if he only made 3 FG's, but the fact that he was down in the block for most of the game, banging around to get rebounds and Fouls...was nice.I don't think we'll be able to stop TD...and so far it hasn't hurt us too bad...as long as we can keep the other guys from getting way open looks, like when we double team TD, and he passes out.Fun series...best one of the playoffs so far.
Wow this was a HUGE must win for the Mavs, and they pulled it off. Theyve now put a lot of pressure on the Spurs by winning 2 in a row. Especially since the Spurs barely beat the Mavs out in game one. Dirks free throw shooting today was incredible. He scored 7 times as many points as field goals lol. he shot 3 of 9 from the field and made 21 out of 24 from the line.
Yeah, now all the pressure is on the Spurs...but the Spurs are the champs, and have been thru some battles...so we'll see how this plays out.
Game 3 was sick, no doubt.. I went to the game and when I saw the Duncan foul on Dirk where he fouled out.. it wasnt a foul but Mavs would have won anyway. Also I didnt really understand why Avery didnt put his shot blockers out there in the stretch. It couldve provented Gino from driving so easily. But there was the risk of the foul. But man.. It was so loud lmao.
Yeah I was pissed that Avery refused to put in Diop for the last couple minutes. Dallas didn't improve on defense by putting Dirk at center. The problem was that San Antonio was putting Horry at center and going ultra small which made it a matchup nightmare for the mavs. I was also upset that Avery put in Stackhouse. He almost cost us another game. He was lucky the mavs won anyways or he would really criticized.
Oh my GOD...stop the Stackhouse bashing...He missed the hoop, that's it. He was probably aiming to hard, and just missed it, he did throw it hard on purpose, and it was just off...c'mon.They guy had another great game, and you still bash him.Get off of it man.
Haters. I dont think Stacks mistake was a big deal. At the time, myself I forgot about the rule that it had to hit the rim. Players having to hit the rim rarely happens now dyasBut about the game, im disapointed. Even with the win, Spurs had a few chances. Mavs loosing the lead was unacceptable. Seems like it always happens when Mavs go up big the other team comes back. Even when Nelson was the coach
^Exactly...it was an unfortunate thing, but it wasn't a dumb mistake or anything...it just didn't go according to plan.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>I was also upset that Avery put in Stackhouse. He almost cost us another game. Just because he messed up on a free throw doesn't mean anything. Spurs still had to lob one with 2 seconds to go to win. If Stack misses it on purpose with no violation and Spurs hail mary to win, you would blame Stack for it. If your going to hate on Stack, why don't you hate on Daniels? <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>I went to the game and when I saw the Duncan foul on Dirk where he fouled out.. it wasnt a foul but Mavs would have won anyway. But putting Diop out there would have put Barry on him most likely. A matchup that favors Barry on offense. And that was a foul on Duncan, he moved on the play and there was contact. But every time I hear that stupid reason by Spurs, you simply just point out that stupid foul call on Howard when it was a clean block.
Prepare for the spurs to go ultra small next game. I expect Horry to backup Duncan at center and a lineup of this.Duncan/HorryHorry/FinleyBowen/GinobiliBarry/GinobiliParker/Van Exel
I did notice Finley at PF for a few minutes during last nights game. Idk if Dirk was in the game, but if he was should be a big advantage

If Spurs do that, prepare for Duncan to get into foul trouble again.

I think Avery and the coaching staff will now probably go to Dirk alot in this game when the Spurs switch the screens up top. When Dirk has a point guard on him. I think SA will probably have something planned to stop the penatration by Harris and Terry. Now they will attack with Dirk. I think the reason they didnt really go to Dirk in game 3 when they switched was because they had a great chance to win the game, and didnt want San Antonio to have any tape to study. I think that was a good move. Hopefully Avery does EXACTLY what i just said so i will look real smart.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Zards @ May 14 2006, 04:16 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Once again Tim Duncan shines brightly in the playoffs, but the Spurs lose.</div> He was out the last 5 minutes, don't put that on him.
I think Duncan has benefited a ton from small ball. I don't think he would be scoring as easily as a PF. With Horry/Finley allows Duncan to go one on one and is very hard to double team.
Your thinking too much on Spurs dictating matchup. Other then Duncan benefitting, no one else is because it's one and done. They have zero rebounding out there with smallball. Also, if they go small, Duncan is the only big left out there, so when we make our drives, he will have to come over and most likely get a foul or block. If they do that, they will lose. But back to matchup, we need Diop or Damp out there, and we need to dictate matchup, who cares if Spurs go small, we stick with our lineup and keep doing what has won us games.
You know, you can't actually complain about the calls for Dallas, now that I think about it.Dirk really had a huge advantage with Bowen not guarding him TOO much. Dirk was able to easily draw the foul every time. Also, if you look at it, the Mavs would have only around 30 trips to the line if Dirk didn't drive every time.

I think Dallas has a very good chance of winning this, if they continue their good work in Game 4 and win the game. Or, they win Game 4 and Spurs repeat what the Suns did to the Lakers. But this time, I think Dallas will finally get their way. Avery Johnson is getting his job done. Dirk I think can pull out of this one.
