My DVD drive needed to be lubricated (heh) so I busted the box open (heh) and used some WD-40 to get it running. Voided the warranty, but I was willing to take the chance. That was about 18 months ago, and I got the RRoD about 6 months ago and... still haven't fixed it. I've read that you can take it apart, remove the little heat sinks they've got, and use thermal paste to attach pennies wrapped in electrical tape... I'm actually pretty confident that it'll work, but I just haven't been bothered to go to Radio Shack and buy the stuff I need. I rarely used it, anyway, so I'm not in any big hurry. The main pain is when a chick wants to bring over a video game and I have to admit I don't have a functional system (heh). Ed O.

the PS3 slims? I just got one....and like 5 games I've played for a total of an hour...probably shouldn't have gotten a PS3
idk about slims but ps3 has a 10% failure rate compared to 23% 360 failure rate...lol im not sure if you get a warranty with a ps3...
Instead of a RROD you can get a blinking light of death with the PS3. The turnaround time is sometimes less than two weeks when you send it back to Microsoft for repair. Just do that. Should be free. Register your xbox online to find out if you are covered and they will give you the information and a box to ship it.
