In those wars, the entire world was involved and many countries lost significant lives and had battles on their soil, with this "war" that's not the case.Also in those wars, there was a large military force which was seeking to conquer, right now we don't have anything like that. There's no comparison between Al-Queda and Hitler.

Yes, the War on Terror has a lot of intelligence screening it but you are forgetting the most important part: the front lines. We are using plenty of bombing campaigns, raids, firefights, etc. This is a war, there really is no doubt about it.
