Not that it isn't extravagant and wasteful, but spending donated GOP money like a drunken sailor is not the same as spending taxpayer money like a drunken sailor.

It's all about aligning incentives. When I worked at CSFB, our group received 10% of our net income for our bonus pool. Other departments worked in offices; we worked in cubicles. Other departments flew first class and stayed in five-star hotels; we flew coach and stayed at Days Inn-level hotels. As a result, we were the most highly-compensated group at the bank. Overhead makes a difference.

My point is that Steele should be incentivized by how much he raises minus how much he spends to raise that money for the GOP. I think you'd see him be a bit more careful with his expenditures. I'm so sick and tired of people from both parties making their lives a bit more comfortable of other people's money. When you give money to a political party, you want the money to go to something that impacts elections.

I'm in a real "throw the bums out" mood, regardless of party.

my post was mostly a rhetorical question.... what does the word conservative mean these days anyways?
they sure spent taxpayer $$$ like drunken sailors during W's time. Aren't Neocons still largely running the party? So...

I believe that the difference is that Republicans spend your tax dollars like drunken sailors by propping up Wall Street and on military spending.

Democrats spend tax dollars like drunken sailors by propping up Wall Street, military spending, and questionable social programs.

Try to pay closer attention, STOMP. ;)

One more thing we agree on.

I think that's 3 things now, although I can't recall what the other 2 were.

Funny this never came up when the GOP had a lighter face doing the same things. Not like this is anything other than business as usual.
