Really? I just turned into a story problem and BAM! I had the answer! Train A is (2 + 3 = 10) and just left New York. Train B is (7 + 2 = 63) but it just left Chicgo w/ 2 stowaway illegal aliens. Train C is (6 + 5 = 66) is still in Memphis And Train D is (8 + 4 = 96) left Philadelphia 30mins late. If you make 9 + 7 = the station, the problem solves itself!
I love stuff like this. Anyone who said 144 as if that is the only answer is incorrect. The best answer is likely 144. There isn't enough info given, if you are going to do things not represented in the problems such as multiplying numbers you must be open to other tricks. Try this. 2 + 3 =10 Double each number and you get 4+6 which does equal 10. If you use the 2 from the first example in the second one you find that the number 7 equals 59. Maybe that is 7 times 7 plus the answer to the first one. So my answer to the question is that 9 plus 7 equals whatever 9 is plus 59. Or maybe you add 96 to that, who knows?
144, got it in <2mins! seriously. 2+ 3= 5, 5*2 = 10 7+2= 9, 9*7= 63 6+5=11, 11*6= 66 8+4= 12, 12*8= 96 9+7= 16, 16*9 = 144. Got any more? I love this kinda stuff.
You algorithm does not compute. I got 144 in about a minute. No Google either. I like this kind of stuff. Yeah, I'm a geek at heart.
