He is the most self indulgent writer around. he didn't need 2,000 words to say something that could have been said in in about 4 paragraphs. Skip reading it - his point is - if you miss the playoffs, then give your season ticket holders a discount. Whoop-de-freakin do.
I just thought he just had the mindset of a writer in the 1500's were you got paid by the word not the book.
There's a bit more to it then that. The real point here, is that this coming fiasco has zero benefits for the fans. No matter who wins, none of it will be relevant to us.
Which is why it's such a farce. The Clips are going to renounce each and every one of those new players (Blake, Outlaw and Gooden) and their own free agents in order to clear as much cap room as possible this summer ... and when Lebron rebuffs them and they end up throwing a max contract at Rudy Gay, they can right back to playing no defense, underachieving and sucking in general.
How does the timing work? When do the Clips have to renounce and when can the free agent negotiations start with the big summer FAs?
I enjoy the writings of Bill Simmons. I think he's always got a number of entertaining ideas. None of which would probably work out in the real world, but that's why he's a writer, which is what one does when they can't teach, much less do. I just don't like that he's critical of my favorite team.
