What is your opinion on Lee now, especially in comparison to Aldridge? Is he still worth Bayless? Could a team that features Oden/Aldridge/Lee work? Would you still be willing to do a sign and trade for him?

David Lee is a beast, but you guys won't have him on your cap this summer if you truly hope to make a run at two marquee free agents. His cap hold will be far too great. I would love to have him on this team though.

Yes David Lee is worth Bayless. (No-brainer)

No he's not better than LaMarcus.

Yes it would be nice to have him on the Blazers, but I don't think either team can affort him right now.

At least, that's what I think.

The Knicks can definitely afford him, but won't sign him at the expense of better options.

Also, why isn't Lee better than Aldridge? Lee is outplaying him in virtually every category this season.

while I'm not saying whether or not Aldridge is better.. I will say that Lee is also in a D'antoni system for his stats, while LaMarcus is in Nate's

Yeah, that's what I meant but didn't really say. I was following along with Natebishop's comment.

Because I'm a homer? Seriously, I like what Lee brings, and I'd like him to bring it to Portland, but I think Aldridge is underrated, even by Blazers fans. Aldridge has an amazing array of talents. He is quiet but effective. Lee definietly plays hard and bangs and rebounds the way a lot of folks want Aldridge to, but they are just different players.

D'Antoni's system has slowed down significantly, and is no longer fast-paced.

Lee has played better than Aldridge this year, at least on offense, even when you adjust for pace.

I still think that Aldridge's effectiveness as an overall player, including defense - is going to be higher - but this year Lee has played great.

Even though we're 7th in the league, we're still not particularly fast-paced. This is the slowest pace the league as a whole has played in over five years. If they only averaged two less possessions, the Knicks would be 21st in the league in pace. It's not like Lee is getting a significant amount more attempts. He is averaging only 0.8 more attempts than Aldridge. So Aldridge averages more attempts per possession.

lets just put it this way. If I'm gonna have our PF run ISO's and Pick and Rolls.. I'll take Aldridge. Not a knock on Lee at all though.

I have a question. Why is Aldridge such a puss on the boards?

a little bit softness... and a little bit of his game is around the perimeter. It sucks now with no Huge guys in the Middle (no Camby doesnt qualify as huge) but provided Oden and Joel are healthy and rugged rebounders... we will start LOVING LMA's finesse game.

What stopped us getting Lee wasn't giving up Bayless (I thought it was more than that), it was paying a substitute $9M per year. Now than Przybilla will never be the same, Lee might be worth it in a center committee with Joel and Oden. He might go for $8M.

And yes, he would become 2/3 the player he was in New York, like Channing Frye. But that would still make him better than Joel before the injury, and Joel was worth $6M then.

Lee won't go for anything less than $10M, I believe. He wanted $12M last season and now that he's an all-star, he's definitely worth more than $8M.

Lee is different from Frye. Frye peaked in his first season and was terrible ever since, including his second season in New York. Lee has consistently been progressing every single season.
