....an entire game, I wonder if he'd get 20? That said, I'd REALLY love it if the Blazers could meet OKC in the playoffs! It could still happen, you know.
I won't soon forget the masterful defensive performances Nic performed on the likes if Dirk......and others. Essentially, doesn't Nate end up putting Nic on the opposing team's 1 thru 4, whichever one is hurting us most? What a great compliment!
When you have the green light to shoot 25-30 shots a game you get your 20. When you are a star and you always shoot that often, eventually you shoot your self into a rhythm. Look at MJ. He often had 7-20 ballgames. (With 10 free throws) Durant will always get 20 no matter who guards him.
I agree. You can't really stop a talented volume scorer from getting 20 points in a game, because they'll use far too many possessions to prevent it unless they're just completely off their game. The best defense agains such players is to make their points inefficient, not to prevent them from getting points. These players are so valuable to their teams because they score so many of their team's points efficiently. Take away the efficiency, and you've killed a lot of that value.
I bet if Nic were around to check Jordan, we would have never questioned drafting Bowie. Obviously that is toung in cheek, but I think some of us have to realize Nic is a nice young player, but he's simply not at an elite level. He also couldn't guard him for the entire game because of the defensive scheme we run. We do a lot of switching, so even if Nic played every second Durant did, Nic would probably only guard him 25% of the time
Durant would get his points, but Nic would at least make him work, and he might knock a few points off of his shooting percentages.
A pretty pompous statement IMO. While Batum has a lot of tools to eventually be an elite defender, right now he is definitly not.
