My gut feeling is that Blazers brass are not ready to raise the white flag on Oden, so my gut feeling is that if someone calls the Blazers with this offer (with or without Batum) - they will say no.

They might be wrong, but they might be right.

Who knows. Glad it's not my job to make this decision.

If Oden was a guy with a bad attitude that showed no fight to want to get back on the court and showed no improvement in his game, then I think the Blazers might consider something like this. Instead Greg is exactly the opposite of all of that. By all accounts he's a hard worker with a phenomenal attitude and he definitely showed a lot of improvement this year compared to last. Definitely not the kind of guy you give up on.

John Wall is great! He's the new Steve Francis! No doubt he'll win just as many championships, because high scoring, dunking S/PGs always do that.

we'll have to agree to disagee. There is huge differences in what those guys provide compared to Greg. Based on whats normal for career projections of NBA players, I'm expecting those differences to expand greatly

Two years from now I wouldn't be that surprised if neither Joel or Marcus was still in the league

For Oden alone, yes. Add Batum to the mix, probably not. That would put all the risk on the Blazers' side of the ledger.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
Since Oden has a major injury question mark (even though I think the question mark is slightly overblown), I'd trade Oden straight up for Wall. I wouldn't include anything more, though.

The injury issues are the only reason I'd trade Oden for Wall. If I knew for certain that Oden would be healthy enough to play 70+ games a season from now on, I wouldn't even consider it. I'm happy with this play when he's been healthy, in the context of him being a presumed franchise-changing #1 pick.

There is absolutely no excuse for any so-called Blazer fan to have that avatar. I don't care if you were on your death bed and as a precondition for giving you a kidney, a Laker fan said you had to have that avatar. The honorable thing to do would be to kill yourself.

Back to the original topic, I'm a little surprised so many would say yes. John Wall looks like another Marbury, while Oden was going through the roof for effectiveness before the injury. I guess I'll chalk it up to over-valuing scoring and bitterness over injuries.

I've mentioned it in other threads, but we bet on who would play more games this season. I bet that Oden would play more games than Bynum. I thought Greg was ready for a breakout season. He was leading when he broke his knee cap.
