FYI, you don't have to post the 'embed' code for youtube videos, the forum software parses youtube links and automatically embeds them in the page. As for what was more impressive? I guess I'd have to go with Batum, but that's because I'm biased towards guys who drop assists and play defense in addition to launching the long ball.
thanks, got it fixed. I have argued for a while with "Webster supporters" that if he never had that one single quarter that nobody would be supporting him. But, he did have that quarter and it truly is impressive. Overall, I agree that Batum dropping dimes and manning up tilts the competition in his favor.
I say webs just because it was against a much better team, and this really sparked us in that win. We were already up big on the Wolves before Nic started his.
Batum's game was more well-rounded, but if Webster hadn't had that quarter we would have lost. It was absolutely crucial, so I choose Webster for this one.
While Batum had an all around better quarter stat wise, it just wasn't as important as Webster's quarter. Webster single handedly won us that game. I also agree that if quarter never happens we would have given up on Martell. But we all just keep hoping that he is able to find that confidence and be something closer to that player on a regular basis, and he just doesn't seem to be mentally capable of keeping his confidence up.
Im suprised it took someone this long to ask this question. If Batum had hit one of those last two or three 3's at the end of the quarter then it would be not contest. I still gotta go with Batum though, maybe just becuase some of the luster has worn off Websters performance since then.
I don't think any of the luster has worn off -- it was a freaking amazing shooting performace -- but for me that's what it ultimately is; he got scorching hot, ran off a bunch of screens because Utah let him and then promptly cooled off to normal Martell levels in the fourth when they decided to commit a defender a little harder. Maybe Batum's performance is similarly skewed to the one hot quarter, but I guess it's just the fact that he played so well at both ends of the court all game and ultimately made his teammates better that makes it jump out at me ... despite the fact that it was against Minny. Anyway, I feel like were' comparing a 9 to a 9.5.
To me, Batum's quarter was more impressive. It felt less flukish. Purely subjective, of course, but Webster just seemed incredibly hot, like a shooter having the best night of his life. Batum just seemed like a guy playing well and boom...big number. That, to me, is more impressive because it feels like he can do it again (not necessary score 22 in a quarter, but take one over).
This was my reasoning as well, except I chose webster as more Impressive because it was so insane, while Batum's was an extension of his superior all around game.
I think Webster had the excitement factor that only a home game could have, but I'm a bigger fan of Nic and his performance.
