Chad Ford projects how teams will rank in a few years, and projects GS at #28 overall: Interesting that he puts the players at #18 and the management at #30 (and our market at #7). Honestly I think the players should rank higher, given the amount of young talent that could develop. But I can't argue with the management. It's crazy that we have this awesome young core and yet we can't seem to do much with it. I really hope Ellison can save us.
Isn't it Market 23 and Draft 7? I didn't read the article (don't have insider) but I assume that it meant our draft history ranks about 7th among 30 teams, but how many jerseys we sell/money we make is about 23rd. Draft is probably tabulated by how well our picks are producing along some kind of numerical system and must be largely computed on Monta's 2nd round pick production. I would have rated Money lower, assuming that's our Salary management, because right now Biedrins and Maggette are bad investments and long term ones, too. Originally, I would have given more slack on the management even with all of the bad rumors except for the Cohan move of cutting Speedy giving the picture that management was not free to do what it needed to win, so we do deserve the worst grade. Stuff all the regulars here know already, I guess, though. Keep crossing your fingers for 2012 being a good year, and follow some other team in the meantime as to avoid becoming clinically depressed.
I'm not sure what he's smoking? The SF Bay is the 11th overall market (5th in population), and there's only 1 team in the market. Some of those other markets are split. Does he say what he uses to determine "Market?"
Yeah, we have a great market for basketball. We would be selling more merchandise like in the run tmc days if the warriors were actually relevant, which they're not and haven't been for well over a decade. Look at how popular the San Jose Sharks are and that's only hockey! It's got everything to do with how bad the management/ownership is with Cohan and his cronies. They don't know how to win and thus, they've lost a ton of support because who wants to waste time following a sure-fire loser. Let's just say the only reason bay area fans aren't more vocal now is, it's the same story every single season and nothing changes. Once Cohan is out, I'm sure the fans will cheer like they won the lottery.
Ha, If it happens, we should see if we can rent out a sportsbar and get the entire online community there and invite the press. Make Banners that say "Good Riddance, Cohan" and "We Believe, Again!"
