Jesus Christ with all the whingeing and moaning! Become a Clippers fan or a Knicks fan or a Pacers fan if you want a real reason for despondency.
dude its a legit question. roy and la arent as good as we thought AND oden has had 2 knee injuries in 3 years. rudy is awful. miller is gone in 2 years. bayless is so inconsistent and webby is a head case. the only bright light is batum.
Acceptable play(Win or Lose): The team plays hard, works hard on defense. Focused play is a bonus. Unacceptable play(Win or Lose): The team looks despondent, watches players for layups unimpeded and generally puts out a shitty effort. I will never ever support a team that does not play hard. Lately the Blazers have not been playing hard.
Do you have to swip your mouth everytime you speak? What a load of crap. Who is WE? You've never even been to Portland.
Why? There is a reason their fan bases don't show up to games. They aren't worth the time. That doesn't mean that some should suck down the kool aid and sthu. Ya know?
leave it to mixum to say brandon roy is not the player we thought after 2 and half years of borderline superstar play from roy...after one injury he basically has to play through and isnt playing at the top of his game hes now "not the player we thought he was"...man shut up
well, he also said batum was the only bright spot, after most of the year saying he was also trash, and webster should be starting there, and does everything better than batum. this place seems to go downhill faster and faster.
Without exception, sports analysts are expressing amazement that the Blazers are 10 games over .500 with all the injuries. Over and over I've heard no way should this team be in the playoff picture, or even a .500 team. I've heard praise for Nate, KP, for the character of this team. Except here.
Being "too close" to a situation cuts both ways. Sometimes, fans miss the big picture. Sometimes, fans see things that the superficial attention of the media misses.
Maybe some truth in this, but I think it's more often the case that some of the fans on this board would find something to gripe about even if the Blazers win the title: "Nate's rotations suck." "Aldridge isn't doing enough." "Rudy isn't great." Pretty much a forest-trees issue as far as I'm concerned.
KP isn't an elite GM unless the Blazers can win back to back chanmpionships . . . or the Blazers would have won back to back championships if it wasn't for Nate.
How many sports analysts have seen every single minute of every single Blazer game this season? I think the team is doing ok considering the circumstances but it isn't shitting on the team to say they looked like total shit in the last 3 weeks regardless of the outcome of the games. Does anyone here actually think they have played well? Sure, they played well enough to beat teams that would have a difficult time in the d-league. So what. This team is expected to make noise in the playoffs. Right now they are playing like a team that is going to get swept in the first round. Why is it so wrong to admit that and wonder what can be done about it, if anything can actually be done.
Pointing out the obvious is not "whining and moaning." I'm a diehard Blazer fan, but it seems pretty clear that the bloom is off the rose right now. Show me one Blazer fan who thinks that Roy and Aldridge have improved this year. Show me one fan who thinks Oden will ever be the player we thought he would be when we drafted him. Show me one fan who doesn't think this team has some serious flaws--starting with its defense, and including its offense, which is basically give it to Roy and let him do his thing (which he's been having a hard time doing) . . . Being a true "fan" doesn't mean closing your eyes to anything negative--sometimes it means caring so much that you have to tell the truth.
I think Brandon is pouting about the trade. That is my only real complaint. And a pretty significant one.
it seems to me the same posters who've for years been going from sugar highs to crashing lows depending on the outcome of the last game are still at it. The same posters who've consistently considered their glass half full of piss still do so. Those that have always been concerned with trivia are still into their minutia... and the same posters who've always kept things in perspective are still providing me with some of the best insights on the team that I can find.
