That game is the perfect example of why we will win a title with Roy and LA

Yessir. Maybe without the Aldridge part, but this game against Golden State shows why we will win a title with Roy.

What would Barkley know about winning a title?

What about that Roy guy? Does he still suck. You really have no BBIQ it would appear.

There really isn't one thing I like about LMA's game.

His shot is either on or off and when it's off he disappears.

A slow paced half-court game really isn't suited for him.

So, I guess you can blame LMA for not playing with balls and McMillan for his bore-fest slow it up system.

Aldridge's play against GS so far in his career is not really a good measure of his worth. It seems like Maggette has been in his head ever since he fouled out trying to back him down a couple of years ago.

Doug Collins said it best: The refs don't know what to do with Maggette. He either gets fouled or commits a foul on every play he is involved in".

I can think of ay least two calls down low where LMA was frustrated by the "Flop" .The call in the 4th that wiped out the basket was horrible. LMA does not play well against smaller players anyways, but it is especially true when he does not get the calls.

That's always been such a weird matchup. I doubt there's anyone in the league who fears Corey Maggette as much as Aldridge does. It really doesn't have to be that hard to post up a guy 5 inches shorter than you, even if he is pretty strong and quick.
    1. Catch in post.
    2. Turn around.
    3. Shoot.
Aldridge's problem is he thinks he has to back him in more after he catches the ball. That gets the ball on the floor where Maggette can use his speed and strength, and more guards have an opportunity to come in with doubleteams.

While Aldridge did have an abysmal first 3/4 of the game, his 4th quarter output was pretty good: two fouls (including the 6th) on Maggette, 10 points, 2 rebounds. It's almost like he had an in-game change of heart.

Yes, he had the one offensive foul and two 3-second violation calls; all three felt ticky-tacky to me though.

Anyway, I thought LMA redeemed himself well after a very poor 3/4 of a game. He was our leading scorer in the quarter (Miller had 6, Rudy had 6, B-Roy had 3 and Bayless had 2).

Roy had a very good game. I was happy to see him look more like his old self last night.

That said, this team won't win a title unless it makes some big changes. I agree with Barkley. We've got to get some tougher inside players who can score around the post, rebound, block shots, draw fouls, etc. Our inside players either aren't skilled enough, or don't have the necessary grit and toughness (i.e. Aldridge). With Oden on the team, that weakness was disguised. Now that he's out, it's glaringly obvious.

So, the Blazers have to get some big guys who can post, rebound and block shots because this "weakness" was disguised when Oden (and I'd argue, Joel) were playing and doing that role?

Somehow I'd suspect most teams in the league would have this "weakness" when the guys on the roster who are there to fill that role get injured for the season.

LMA skill set matches KG's. His post up game of late has fallen waaay short of his ability though. I don't know what it is, but I don't expect his slump to last forever

When on: Ability to shoot over anyone, can run the court like a SF, can post up and shoot the jumper, No matter how he's doing he always plays hard and continues to shoot (when given the ball), 3 point play machine going across the middle, can guard anyone on the switch, Ice Cool Demeanor.

Once he gets his offensive game honed/consistent, he will be a go to guy in the fourth. Without a doubt

You have a good point, but you conveniently left out the first part of my statement, which mentioned "scoring." Neither Oden nor Przybilla were very good offensive players, although Oden's offensive game was starting to come around before he got injured, again . . . (sigh) Our lack of scoring in the paint was partially disguised by the defensive prowess of Oden and Przybilla.

The Bulls dynasty had a glaring weakness at the shooting guard. But with Jordan on the team it was disguised.
