That sucks for Ellis. I'm surprised he was hitting up so many minutes early in the season, although there were some reports about this injury scaring some people off drafting him, he's done pretty well. But it certainly can't help improve any trade value he has.
I have a friend who's a PGA pro with the same condition. When it flares up for him, he's in real pain for days.
I don't think it is so bad that it hurts Monta's trade value. It's the Warriors so it is easy to think that. That said, I have to agree that because of the minutes that he has played this season, the Warriors should think about shutting him down if he has pain and problems with his health. Certainly, I would not mind because we still have to catch Minnesota for the second worst record. The Warriors have gone 2 - 8 while the Timberwolves have gone 1 - 9 the last ten games. They are getting separation.
After last night's win, Ellis looked pretty good, so I'm going to trust him on how he handles it. Reading random crap on the internet about it didn't really help tell me if rest would really help it. Clearly a cause of the injury flaring up is overtraining, but Ellis doesn't necessarily bend that part of his back except when driving really hard or trying to play defense. So, it might just be one of those things that's hard to prevent and simply takes time when it does crop up. I talked about tanking before but thinking about it, Nelson still needs 6 more wins to get his record. I rather that we get more wins so he can retire sooner, maybe start a season with a fresh coach? Looking at other teams in the lottery behind us, even if we did get 6 more wins, they'd have to play about .100 ball to be worse than us. Even they'll probably win more than 2 or 3 games in the next 20.
