Clyde 2nd best SG since 77-78 season?

Dave Berri (Wages of Wins author) has a brief but interesting article showing the 50 best statistical seasons SGs have had since 77-78 at http://dberri.wordpress.com/2010/03/14/kobe-makes-pau-gasol-unhappy/. His stat is similar to PER, but doesn't reward bad shooters as much. Don't read it if you don't like stats (or are a big Kobe fan), but if you do, you'll appreciate seeing Clyde (and Fat Lever) show up so much.

 

i never got to watch clyde, but i think kobe is better

I think Drexler and Kobe (and Pippen, actually, even if he wasn't a shooting guard) were all pretty similarly great players. In the top 20-25 players of all-time range.

I don't agree. And Kobe is one of my favourite players in the league.

I wouldn't put him ahead of any of Jordan, Chamberlain, Olajuwon, Abdul-Jabbar, Robertson, Magic, Bird, Russell, either Karl or Moses Malone, Duncan, West, Garnett or Robinson.

So the very highest I would rank him is 15th. Then there are debatables.
