My wife, as an anniversary gift, wants to get me any Blazer item I want, and I want a classic jersey (that fits -- I'm big) to wear to games. I saw this dude, "Jersey Jim" Thomas (hoop-style) on eBay selling custom-made jerseys. eBay says he's on the up-and-up, but I'm curious about build quality. Anyone every buy from this dude? How's the product?

Well, I was going to do a Duckworth 60+2 (like I said, I'm big), but in black, 1989-90 style. The guy's been real friendly, but you know how that is.

One thing that drives me nuts about basketball tops is the +2.

    They are too fucking long.

The guy looks like a legit seller, but there are a couple of jersey forums with jersey rain men who will be able to answer any question you might have about him or the actual pieces.

When I get home tonight I'll get the url and post it here if you'd like. I can't remember the name of it.

As a big guy, this is my number one reason why B-ball jerseys are better, in my opinion.

I am obsessed with Sabonis so I emailed the guy about his Sabonis Jersey http://cgi.ebay.com/Arvydas-Sabonis...emQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item48397cb9a6

I asked him what he would be willing to sell it for as $511.11 is a TAD expensive. He wrote back very rudely with something like, "$511.11!! I Don't need to sell it. I am just showcasing my collection!" - I can't remember exactly what he said, but it was very rude.

I find it interesting that he doesnt list any sort of details on his "game worn" jerseys as to the date etc. the player wore the jersey.

Heaven forbid we should judge by the available personal experience data LOL

With Game Worn Jerseys I am Hoop-Style (700+ listings on eBay, 15+ years, 100% positive feedback rating). But with recreations, which I got into to give myself trading materials, I am SoftRock. I have created retro jerseys for 11 different NBA Teams and close to 100 NBA players, coaches, GM's including at least 20 Hall of Famers.

I have recently done my 3rd project for the Portland Trail Blazers to provide them with jerseys to decorate the Arena Luxury Boxes. So, what can I do for you.

    Cheers, Jim

Whoever told you that this kind of info is available lied to you. Out of the 4000 NBA jerseys I have owned, fewer than 20 of them came with that information. Even these days when the new Revolution jerseys are supposed to be tracked by the serial number game to game, only 2 of the 30 NBA teams are religiously logging this info.

Jim/softrock: No offense, but you seem a little 'snippy'. You'll catch more bees with honey. (Or something like that.)

I don't lead anyone on by playing the stupid game that eBay encourages with their "Best Offer" feature. This has quickly degenerated into the Worst Offer feature where sellers inflate their asking price by 2 to 10 times and then hope they can haggle their way to 1.5 times the true value of the item. That is BS in my opinion and I don't lead anyone on by implying that game is being played.

$511 is the correct price for a Sabonis Gamer and after 15 years of listening to collectors with insufficient resources whine that it is the price I set and God forbid not their ignorance of the proper value or their anemic wallet that is "the problem".

Instead, I use 20 years of available data from at least 15-20 sources on identical or at least comparable items and the sale price they have brought. Much like your Realtor who can nail the value of that house you want to buy with this sort of information. It is time consuming to be sure, but doing things the correct way typically does require more effort, right?

I am not a dealer or some sort of reseller who relies on the sales off eBay to pay my mortgage. It is simply a zero sum game where every time I sell an item, I just go out and buy something to replace it.

I don't have "customers" I have a huge number of relationships with fellow collectors. These are people who understand that we are hoarding items that are absolutely useless. If the apocalypse happened tomorrow, these flimsy tank tops would not even serve as adequate clothing for the nuclear winter to come.

So, if you don't have DISPOSABLE INCOME (you know the same kind of money that you take to the Casino with you) step aside and let those who do enjoy their frivolous hobby.
