sure, he still will be good...but I don't think ZBO really would have held him back all that much like people were saying.

"Addition by subtraction" really didn't work out.

and at that time ZBO was seen as a cancer, blackhole, bone head.

if you kept ZBO it would have continued to be ZBOs team instead of Roy's. You move ZBO to make room for a new leader.

Zbo's value at that time was zero, thinking he was worth anything more than that is revisionist.

Didn't work? We improved the two subsequent years following the deal. How is that not working? Looks like we did get better. What we know is we got better after getting rid of him. You have nothing to say how we would have played with him at PF, and Aldridge at C.

Yes. That's why we should have kept him instead of giving him away for nothing.

You don't sell low. Penn likely promoted the idea of the imaginary cap space, and seeing that this was a complete failure on his part given his "CAP GENIUS STATUS" and the inability to do anything with both this cap space and arguably one of the most lucrative and incentive-laden expiring contracts in league history.....is why Penn got fired and KP is watching his back.

We were on an upward projection based merely on the fact that we had an emerging superstar in Brandon Roy and our rookies just got older and more experienced.

Geez, Canzano is a tool. His big announcement is nothing but guesswork and gossip. Did the Blazers say anything about Penn lying to them regarding Minnesota? No. So Canzano jumps on that rumor and obtains some sort of evidence that Penn was offered a job in Minnesota. So what? For all we know Penn was canned because his haircut bugged Paul Allen. But let's extend the supposition to assume that KP's on the hot seat. Yeah, let's run with that despite a total absence of facts. This guy should write for the National Enquirer.

I don't believe the Minnesota story has anything to do with it.

Its just Penn not living up to his expectations and promises.

To be fair, the real "imaginary" cap space was from the Miles deal. (though I still think the Zach deal was a mistake)

First off there is nothing that points to KP being in any type of trouble. That part is all speculation, the Penn stuff could be real.

Well, other than supposed proof (likely a copy of an offer from Penn's agent) of Penn actually getting an offer from Minnesota.

I'd say that is something to report, and something that I did not know prior to hearing/reading it.

The cap space from Miles deal was non-exisitant and conditionary. there really wasn't any major mistake in that other than signing the deal in the first place I suppose.

I, for one, am GLAD that Pritchard is getting heat from Volcan for ignoring Oden's pre-draft physical and the warning signs.

Regardless of all this conjecture, if the Blazers start faltering for the rest of the season...I'm blaming this horribly timed personnel move for it.

Just to play devil's advocate, why is the fact that KP did the same thing that any other GM did (draft Oden) any kind of defense? Is a mistake that other people would have made any less of a mistake? But more to the point, if he's all that special, shouldn't he be doing things that are uncommonly right instead of commonly wrong?

The whole Minny story doesn't add up to me at all. It's not like Minny didn't know that the rumor existed. If it was all an internal lie to get Penn promoted Minny would have certainly rejected the rumor and said no such deal had been discussed. Or no such deal was OFFERED. I don't think the Minny rumor is true at all.

You're right, because his wrist and back have been such huge problems since he was drafted. And if you're talking about his knees, then you're clearly not talking about the physical, since the only mention of them was:
