Who are you, Canzano? If you had a radio show and spewed this over the airwaves, PTd would be talking about this for the next 48 hrs.
I don't know if I'd consider Martells contract to be a sticking point. He's getting paid 4 million to 5 million a year. I think this is an issue that, because there hasn't been a game for 4 days and college basketball season is over with (and was a dud) and college football season is over with and baseball is still in spring training, and there isn't much else to talk about, it was made out to be far more than it's necessary. I think this is more Vulcan than Paul Allen. But if Paul Allen wants to chastise KP for not getting more for the RLEC, remember who is the one who has the final say on trades? Who is the one who has the final say on draft picks? If Paul Allen really wanted Deron Williams, we would've drafted him. If Paul Allen really wanted Durant, we would've drafted him. this sounds like a bunch of people who have little basketball knowledge (or patience), making a big deal out of something that isn't worth making a big deal out of. For fucks sake, didn't the Seahawks just sign an unknown unproven backup QB for 8 million over 2 years?
Nah, I think KV is pretty fair minded, but he sure doesn't candy coat what he thinks (which I appreciate)
Did I miss something, or did it come out that Paul Allen had nothing to do with not taking advantage of RLEC, in order to save millions? Do we know that it was only KP involved in that decision?
KV is a tool. He is just trying to stir shit up. Let's see how quick KP will give an interview to him once he resigns.
RLEC has become one of those legendary "mistakes" that assumes that the Blazers lost out on a great player with this asset simply because other great players have been obtained by other teams with ending contracts. The problem with this assumption is that it is based upon the notion that circumstances are the same over time when, in fact, they're not. IMO, RLEC turned out not to be such a great asset because the timing was wrong. Teams weren't wanting cap at that point in time because those looking to make a big free agent move were concentrating on working things so they'd have cap space for the big event this coming summer. Oh, I'm sure KP could have made a deal for somebody like Jefferson, but really, passing on that kind of a deal is actually a feather in KP's hat, as I see it.
I'm sure it was for you since you didn't have to do anything but... How is the Camby deal a no brainer for Pritchard? What the FUCK does that even mean?
Mook, I like your even keel posts. Two things: Why do most assume that Oden is done or something.? He may very well be more valuable to the Blazers then Durant would have been. Where has Durant taken his team so far? Secondly, Hedo Played very well last year because he was used well. I think he could have helped the Blazers this year. And in hindsight, who thought he would have been as ineffective this year. Miller has done very well though.
In the 2006 offseason when Nash got fired & Pritchard got promoted to assistant GM, our roster was: Zach Randolph Joel Przybilla Darius Miles Martell Webster Victor Khryapa Theo Ratliff Steve Blake Telfair J. Jack J. Dixon Travis Outlaw Brian Skinner V. Lenard Ha Seung-Jin Their record was an NBA worst 21-61. KP's not batting 100%. But you can't honestly compare that situation to the current situation, just 3.5 years later, and tell me he hasn't done a very good job as a GM. Anyone who does is a fucking idiot.
Thanks for the compliment! I like your posts too. I don't think Oden is done. I still actually like him for this team, even more than Durant. But the general consensus around the league is quite different. Most people think it was a huge blunder. (That's what I was acknowledging, although I was a little vague I see now.) That's ok though. There's an ebb and flow to player careers. Durant is on a high tide, and Oden is about rock-bottom (hopefully). I started to convince myself it could work when it looked inevitable he was coming here, but in my heart I always thought it was a bad idea. One of our biggest obstacles in reaching a championship has always been getting past LeBron, Kobe and Carmello. No matter how good of a season he has, he'll never do anything to help us in that area. I didn't think he'd have this bad of a year, but I never really liked his fit here.
Is being a muppet good or bad? They seem so cute and with little care in the world. I would have taken Oden . . . but I want to be muppet. I feel so torn.
Perhaps. It's just that people are saying KP failed by not making a deal with RLEC. Isn't it just as possible that PA wanted to save the money, just like many other owners have been doing?
