A coaching change could do this team wonders. The players, IMO, who wont live up to their potential in this slow system: -Nicolas Batum -LaMarcus Aldridge -Rudy Fernandez -Jerryd Bayless -Dante Cunningham The only players who really fit the pace: -Brandon Roy -Greg Oden We have a pace of 87.8, dead last in the League for the 3rd straight season. KP needs his players to continue to develop but I just think Nate's system is going to stunt the growth of a lot of the roster outside Roy.
I have a better solution. Move the RG to the top of Mt. Hood. We could have a homecourt advantage similar to Denver.
My first choice: Mike Budenholzer The lead assistant in San Antonio. Offensive minded and obviously learned from one of the greats in Popovich.
Yes because Pop runs such a high paced system. Pop's system is a half court defensive system, you know, kinda like the guy you got? Let's fire KP while we're at it. And two guys that you mention that are the only ones that fit the system are two of our three key guys. I believe you build around your best players not your bench.
Bill Musselman. Dude has his drawbacks like running a similarly slow system and being dead for a decade now, but at least he's not Mr Powermonger the way the blazers are winning sure isn't hurting Nate's chances of getting a new deal... has the COY ever not been retained? STOMP
The team has been running more lately. Relax. Give them a chance to grow. Fuck man, Bayless and Rudy have only been full time rotation players now for a few weeks. They need some time to gel. But there are already signs of the pace picking up, especially when the 2nd unit is in.
I don't mind if the Blazers run . . . as long as they win. It seems this team is trying to copy a SA formula . . . I don't recall SA being known as a running team. You don't need to run to win championships.
Correct. But you do need to take advantage and get easy hoops. Put it this way, they shouldn't be last in the league.
I beg to differ. Between GSW and Phoenix those two have basically monopolized the NBA title going back to the 80's!
Well good defense should lead to some fastbreak points. Easy buckets are what controls momentum in basketball along with some 3's, and momentum is huge basketball. Another thing is that Aldridge is no Tim Duncan There is no reason to slow down the pace to get your Superstar big man in the game when Oden and Aldridge can both run.
