What the heck is wrong with Blazer Broadcasting's equipment? Three games in a row the broadcast breaks up. Last night was better in that it didn't cut out entirely, but still...what's up with that?
really annoying. you would think after having 4 days off they would have figured it out. on a side note, for the most part blazerbroadcasting does a great job. i use to subscribe to league pass and have to say that they are better than most but one thing nags the hell out of me. (and every basketball broadcast does it) when a player makes a basket they always have to zoom in on the players face. and it happens usually a couple times a game where a steal or some sort of crucial gameplay happens and we miss it because we were looking at some dudes close up. is it really necessary to see a players face after a made shot? if so why cant they do more picture in picture type things so the people who want to watch the game can see the action rather than just one persons reaction. going back to the days of blazercable, i always thought it would be cool to have separate channels with different camera feeds so the viewer could choose which camera angle they wanted to watch most. also they could choose to watch the game without the commentators and just listen to the in game mics, sorta give you the feel of being courtside. or set up a pip and watch from 2 cameras at once. i think tnt's website does something similar for nba games but with all of todays technology you would think this would have happened by now.
We know about it. Th signal is leaving our truck fine, it is when it goes back to the RG and being sent out from there, the problem happens. Trust me, emails and calls have been flying back and forth. Sorry guys.
The signal's being run thru a VASO line filter, which makes everything look like you smudged petrolium jelly on the lens. We really seem to have some po-dunk equipment in Portland. "THE" people are marginally competent , but they're working with some really shitty equipment somewhere up the line.
Yeah that static stuff is annoying. Never seen the same problem over multiple broadcasts like that... I think it started with the KGW game didn't it?
That signal situation is way above my head. All the people that should know about it, do. I know my immediate boss is very pissed about it. We'll see if it happens again tonight. The blurry thing, I've never heard of. I have watched our broadcasts back at home and have never noticed anything like that on my TV.
"THE", I have watched a few Portland games on NBA LP, and I think the Blazers broadcast squad is one of the best in the league.
Good to hear man, thanks. A lot of work goes into a broadcast and I can honestly say I am amazed more stuff doesn't go wrong. I work with some really talented people!
Whatever the problem was, it seems like it was fixed. I didn't notice any signal issues in last night's broadcast. Well, except for the fact that they didn't show the Blazers winning the game. See if you can work on that for the next one, "THE".
I would love the ability to choose which camera angle you got to watch games at. I hate when just to change things up, they go to a court level camera where you can't see anything happening. When they all of a sudden switch to the camera under the basket when a guy is driving annoys me. Hate when they go to that under the basket one during free throws, as well. Trying to get too cute, it seems. Hey, you all got used to this view, what if we alter it, and make you view it from the bottom of the scoreboard for a few plays. Or from the floor, on the opposite side of the court. or the camera man on the sidelines sitting down. Boooo. K.I.S.S.
The equipment may be at the Rose Garden building, but the signal from road games goes through there too. IIRC, the first time they had the problem was with the game at Golden State.
The signal from the road game still goes back to the Rose Garden before going out, no? That would explain the problem with the broadcast from Sacramento.
