Re: OT:The nect Brandon Jennings Quits! That's what everyone thought would happen to Jennings. He set a bad example to high schoolers because now they think it's easy. Just like entering the NBA out of high school. Kobe and Garnett had many following them and failing.
Re: OT:The nect Brandon Jennings Quits! Ya, I read a piece on this kid in the New York times earlier this winter. I guess it was rough over there for him from the get go.
Re: OT:The nect Brandon Jennings Quits! Before heading overseas he was billed as the best center prospect to come out of high school since Greg Oden. Draftexpress projects him as a second round pick when he comes out. He's a budding head-case.
Re: OT:The nect Brandon Jennings Quits! The worst part is, it sounds like he is surrounded by syncophants who are telling him "it isn't your fault, you didn't screw it up, your poo-poo don't stink." I get the impression this kid has no responsible adults in his life - no one who would ever dare to say "no" to him.
Now this story i'm sure is making David Stern happy. Jennings has to be stressing him out, he's the loophole!
That is unbelievably sad to me. This guy desperately needed some adult supervision, but in cases like this it is too often the fox guarding the chicken coop. I hope he gets his life together. At his height, he's going to get a back ache flipping burgers.
I'm so glad high schoolers can't enter the NBA anymore. Better to have these headcases fail without an NBA team having to waist roster spots and millions of dollars on them when there are more deserving collegiate athletes.
Here are Jennings #'s in Italy........ In the Italian Lega A 2008-09 season, Jennings averaged in 27 games, 5.5 points, 1.6 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.5 steals in 17.0 minutes per game. He shot 35.1 percent from the field and 20.7 percent from 3 point range in Lega A play.[14] In 16 Euroleague games, Jennings averaged 7.6 points, 1.6 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 1.2 steals in 19.6 minutes per game. In the Euroleague he shot 38.7 percent from the field and 26.8 percent from 3 point range.[15] [edit]
At least Jennings took his lumps and appears to have learned from them. He didn't just bail. What team is going to give this fool a second chance? Instead of being a useful cog on a good team, he threw a hissy fit. Does that mean he will only be happy as the "star" of a crappy team? An article a few months ago described him as so immature and naive, he didn't even know he was immature and naive. Ouch!
Thank you. The kid..is well...a fucking kid. 17 playing PRO ball, not everyone can do it. To get 2.1 in 7 minutes is better than any of you could do there. He has skill, it was one year, he wanted to do well, and it doesn't always work out. So he'll go back and he'll succeed. You need to fall sometimes so you can get back up and do it again. Watch out for this kid, I'm telling you. More than just a "headcase" which is what you all think.
The sad thing is that there's no system in America for kids that want to be professional atheletes in Basketball. In hockey they've got a system for kids to play against other kids ontheir level all the time. The closest thing for basketball is aau, which is a joke.
I think a lot of high school kids would be in for a wakeup call if they went overseas. Europe isn't a joke. A lot of those guys have been playing pro ball since they were kids. It's no surprise that someone would go over there and get their ass handed to them.
