With the Spurs holding a half game lead over Portland for the seventh slot in the West, the team prepares to play five of the toughest opponents in the NBA over the next week.

Starting Sunday in Atlanta against the Hawks, then Monday at Oklahoma City, followed by a home stand against the top two teams in the league, Los Angeles and Cleveland, before finally traveling to Boston next Sunday.

"I don't know if anyone has a tougher schedule going down the stretch than we do, as far as number of games against playoff teams," Gregg Popovich told the San Antonio Express-News. "We're going to have to play really well in a very tough West to position ourselves like we want to."

All this happening without the help of star point guard Tony Parker.

I've thought for awhile that the Spurs are primed for a fall ... on the other hand the Blazers don't have any cupcake schedule from here on out. I almost half expect this to come down to the last two or three games of the season.

The Spurs could "tumble", but we could still stumble. It's possible the Blazers go 1-4 over the next 5 games too.

I don't think CP3 will be back that soon.

The Spurs are the Fidel Castro of the NBA. People keep predicting their demise, and they just keep rolling year after year.

The stars seem aligned against them, but I'm not betting against them again.

Actually, OKC is only a game ahead of the Blazers and they lost 121-101 to the Pacers (of all teams).
