Sometimes I just buy books because I think I will learn by osmosis. I never read them. What should I do with the books. I have a LOT of them just taking up space and I need the space. Should I sell them? Ship them to Parents house in Oregon? Storage? HALP.
after i read them, then what. do you keep your books? i could drop them all off at a relatives house or something and keep them in those tupperware boxes.
Yes, I keep them. Every now and then I find a need to refer to one of them. My house is slowly sinking into the ground due to the weight of books. barfo
yeah, I have 2 huge rubbermaid tubs full of books. place looks too messy if i were to have a book shelf.
I knew a guy who used to own a small used book store in NE Portland. One day I went into his store and it was half empty. I see the owner and I ask him if I missed a really good sale or something. He gets this really sad look on his face. Says two guys came in a few days ago, started taking all of these books off of the shelf. Going through all the stacks and picking out book after book. They finally came up to the counter and wanted to know how much for the books. He gives them a price, they haggle back and forth and finally agree. So after taking their money he asks them what they're going to do with the books. Turns out the guys were interior decorators for some of the houses on the street of dreams. One guy needed a wall of brown books for the library he was decorating and the other guy needed red books for the same reason.
Take them with you next time you come to Portland. Take them to Powells. Sell them. Then go to The Acropolis.
Build shelves? Store them after you read? If I really enjoy a book I usually keep it out for the lulz.
Contact the local public library. A lot of libraries either accept donations or hold annual or semi-annual book sales to raise funds. You get rid of the books, someone reads them, and a good cause gets a bit of dough. Or, if they are appropriate, donate to a high school library.
