I like this new rule. It makes sense that in the championship game that each team will at least be able to have a shot.
the new rule is retarded. if field goals aren't good enough to win games, they shouldn't be a part of football.
yep, because playing a game for 60 minutes isn't having enough of a shot. and just going ahead and playing defense and getting the ball back for offense isn't having a shot either.
I like it. Much better than the former overtime format. I think having the first team to score a touchdown, or make two field goals to win in OT works as well. But I'm happy about this.
it should either be sudden death as it was before or just have overtime be an extra timed period that has to be completed regardless of how many times one team scores. this stuff where it's sudden death but only a td can win the game on the first possession is stupid.
What am I missing here? It's not fair for a team to win with a field goal and deprive the other team of a chance to get the ball, but it's fair to win with a touchdown under the same circumstances?
To score a touchdown you have the march all the way down the field. To kick a field goal, you may only have to gain a couple of yards. Either way, I like it more than the previous rule.
I'm a little perplexed as to why they have to make this so complicated. Why not give the other team possession after the first score? If the teams keep matching scores, OT keeps going (for 15 minutes, I guess... I kinda like ties).
Glad this passed. This makes it so the winner of the coin flip doesn't have more of a advantage in OT. They should do it for the regular season too.
Maybe we shuld play all games on neutral site's. Becouse the home team wont have more of a advantage.
i don't think it does that at all. i guarantee that the winner of the coin toss will still win a higher percentage of the games since they still will have a chance to win on the first possession.
