This guy has done everything that we hoped oden would on defense. Im sorry but you just cant count on oden at this point. Cant build around teh guy anymore. Gotta resign camby. Its not even a question If this guy ever went to a team like oKC... we would be chasing them for the next 3 years. Camby is a PERFECT FIT ON THIS TEAM. And if he does resign... i think he should start till oden can prove hes healthy and worthy. Make that gimp earn 1 thing in his NBA career. I wanna give kpee credit for getting him but i think kpee was trying to save his own ass... with that said... the phrase "perfect fit" is always over used in sports... but NOT in this case. Hes a perfect fit on this team. The defensive chemistry is amazing.

The point is... we have to resign Camby. Its beyond a no brainer.

I don't think he'll stay here. Too many teams want him and too many family members staying in Los Angeles.

I think it hinges on how well we do in the playoffs, and what kind of money we offer him in the offseason. Yes, he has family in LA, but he would be behind Blake Griffin, DeAndre Jordan, and Chris Kaman down there. Unless he signs with the Lakers, which I think could be a possibility, I like our chances. If we offered him $8-$9 million a year for two years, I think he might come back. Nobody else could offer him what we can offer. Would that be overpaying? Maybe, but I love what he brings to this team.

I also think we might end up trading Joel, so there should be more than enough PT for Camby, even with Oden in the rotation.

I agree. Our current centers are too injury prone to think they will play full seasons. They may, but history is clearly not on their side.

So the next question is- what's Camby worth to us? He's getting up there in years and there is a salary cap we need to keep an eye on.

Do we have "Bird rights" on him?

That'd be great to re-sign Camby.

He fills the void at centre with the question marks surrounding Joel.
In fact I think he's a better fit and a better player than Joel.
He can tutor Oden in the ways of some veteran tricks.

I actually want it to happen because I find the lineup of Oden and Camby extremely intriguing defensivly. Think about it.

Who is going to score inside vs that tandem?

Who is going to get a rebound inside vs that tandem?

Then consider you can put Lamarcus at SF and go absolutely huge, or Batum, and go for the defensive crunch team, and I see no reason to not do it.

It will be great for the whole 4 games they play before Oden gets hurt!:NOTMARIS:

Not too mention adding back Joel Pryzbilla sometime next season (fingers crossed). Pryz, Oden and Camby rotating at the 5 and with Lmarcus at the 4, Portland would have 3 of the top ten shot blockers in the league.

Our interior defense and rebounding would be amazing.

Maybe at the all star break. But I don't see many scenarios that include a team wanting Joel this summer after he re-inured his knee.

So, Camby's a perfect fit, but KP never saw that possibility. He just signed him to save his job, and it's just blind luck that Camby has done so well.

You have absolutely no idea of what Joel's fate will be at this point. Are you trying to say they will trade him before the season if they sign Camby? Who will they trade a broken Joel to?

I don't buy all this shit that KP traded for Camby to "save his job"....Look at our team before he got here and look at it now. If he was responsible for all the injuries then yes, that statement would make perfect sense....but he's not. Shit happens and like he always has, KP made a move that improved our team without giving up anything that would come back to bite us in the future. KP isn't going anywhere and it will have little to do with the Camby trade.

I understand the expiring contract concept, but why would someone want his whole salary when they can get his expiring contract in February. (Plus the use of the player who is actually healthy- and I am assuming good if we want to trade for him)

For as much shit as you've talked about KP, he has made the best trade by a GM so far during the season. Now your gloating about how great Camby is and we need resign him. Whether he did it to save his ass or not, it was a good trade.

I love what Camby is doing with this team . . . but is this possibly another Theo Ratliff or Miles situation?

Come in here for a portion of the season, play well, fans and management fall in love with the player and reward him with a big fat contract.

It didn't work out so well with Theo or Miles.

That's what I'm hoping for. If Joel is able to make a return mid season then we have two awesome big men to come off the bench. Joel could anchor the middle and Camby could get some burn at PF when LaMarcus and Greg are out of the game.

We definetely could consider trading Joel if we can get value in return but if nothing intriguing is available he would be an excellent 4th big man.

Camby has never done anything to be mentioned in the same vein as either of those players.
