Rodgers Looks Impressive In Mincamp 8th May, 2006 - 8:41 pm JS Online - Aaron Rodgers is beginning to show that life without Brett Favre, whenever it might happen, may not look so bad. "I was really pleased with Aaron," offensive coordinator Jeff Jagodzinski said. "Absolutely. His arm strength. The way he got that thing out. And his deep ball was good. "He's got it. He just needs a chance to do it." I'm hoping he comes in and proves all tbese doofs that thinks he's no good wrong. :happy0144:

He should have been giving a considerable amount of playing time last year, considering Brett Favre throwing almost 30 INTs, and also, Brett Favre had many weapons last year, and despite losing key o-line men to the chargers and cowboys, that line is still very solid. From what I saw of Favre last year he just played didnt play like he cared anymore, throwing a pass to donald driver when ed reed and chris mcalister have him shut out was not something you'd expect from a player trying to win the game for his team, also I cant say enough for how terrible that defense is, when Kyle Boller throws for over 300 yards and 3 TDs you have a lot of problems, and Charles woodsen wont fit that, he still might be a good coverage guy, but he wont be able to keep up so it wont matter how good he is at catching the ball.

What weapons did Favre have lasy year? Outside of Donald Driver he had nobody to throw too and his offensive like was god awful, and we were at our 6th string RB after Ahman Green was terrible. Charles Woodson gives us depth at a decent price, we were first against the pass in the NFL last year and this only helps.

He will probably end up like Eli Manning, in the sense that he will take over at midseason and than struggle a lot. Lose games and throw a lot of picks. But atleast the experience will help and the year after next he will probably become the full time #1 guy on the Packers.

Favre will be our starter this year, he'll have to wait till next year.

No he won't the Packers can compete for the division, Rodgers will have to wait like Philip Rivers. Rodgers says he's fine with waiting until next year.

Compete for the division? LOL. You guys dont have a defense and you have an injury plagued offense with a horrible OL. Favre is getting old and looks terrible some days. You guys will have a 6 win season at best. Favre isnt your future. There was a difference because Drew Brees was still very young and he was playing very well. Favre has another year left and when he retires your just going to put the ball in Rodgers hands and see what he can do? No. He needs some experience. I guarentee you he will start some games next year.

Favre is done and honestly I'm sick of hearing about this guy. He won one f*cking super bowl and people act like he's some freaking god. I have respect for the guy, he's been through a hell of a lot with his dad dying and his wife getting cancer, he's mentally and physically tough as nails but c'mon, move on Green Bay, the guy has to be jacked up on pain killers just get through a game. it's been 8 years since the Packers got anywhere with Favre, move on.

He won 1 superbowl, took us to another the year after, he is a three-time MVP and his numbers are all right behind Dan Marino, he's one of the top 5 QB's to ever play the game and he's the only reason Green Bay is on the map. He's the only reason we have gotten FA's the last 10 years and i'm not going to move on or treat him like some punk just because he's nearing the end. Favre has always thrown a lot of INT's, he's thrown 22 before and last year had 29. Considering he threw more balls THAN ANY year in his career, had one above average WR, we were on our 6th string RB and had no offensive line i'm not suprised he threw so many because he's always been a risk taker. It's not Favre's fault we have had terrible defenses the last 7 years.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (CB4AllStar @ May 9 2006, 02:53 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Compete for the division? Our linebacking core is much improved with A.J. Hawk and Abdul Hodge and the offensive line won't be as big an issue but it's still a problem. I think Daryn Colledge will be a good G/T for us this year and fill a starting spot. It's not going to be a great year but our team is better and I expect to go 7-9 or 8-8.

Yeah but Javon Walker isnt coming back. Thats a big slash to your WR core. You need Driver and Green to be healthy for you to have any success on offense. You still need to put in Rodgers some to get him experienced for when he will start next year.

We aren't benching Favre so Rodgers has more experience for 2008. Carson Palmer and many other QB's waited a year and were put in and did fine. We didn't have Walker last year, we can do without him. We have Donald Driver, Rob Ferguson, Marc Boerigter, Rod Gardner and Greg Jennings. It's a decent core that could do well. Ahman Green was terrible before his injury, he went 11 games going back to 2 season ago without having a 100 yard game. We have players behind Green who can play.

Carson got action before he was put in last year. Rivers is an exception and I think that it was a mistake but the Chargers only did it because Drew Brees could have been their future anyway. He was still very young and he had decent accuracy.Brett is getting really old now. I think you start him for like 12 or 14 games but than you let Rodgers get used to the NFL too and play him a bit because he will probably be the full time starter once Favre leaves. Unless you want him to have a disastrous year in 07-08 you should give the guy some much needed experience.

Carson Palmer didn't play at all his rookie year and started 13 games in his second season and did fine, i'm not saying Rodgers is at Palmers level but your making too big of a deal over it. If the Packers are in the playoff chase you don't take Favre out.

Thats the thing. They wont be. They have a sh*tty defense and offensive Line. They need Favre to be spectacular for them to even win 8 games. But if they were in the playoff picture than yeah, you leave Favre in but I seriously doubt they will be in the playoff picture. The Bears will probably win that division again and no way they get a wild card spot with the way the NFC East is looking.

Charles Woodson, Nick Collins, Al Harris, Marquand Manuel, A.J. Hawk, Abdul Hodge, Nick Barnett, Aaron Kampman, Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila, Grady Jackson and Ryan Pickett sounds good to me. Again, thats why they play the games, remember the commercial where they ripped on everything everyone 'was expecting' to happen? Same thing applies this year, nobody knows what will happen.

You're defense still isnt very good. You are still missing a lot at the LB spots. It's not like AJ Hawk is going to step in and become a Pro Bowler immediately. But maybe i did underrate your defense a little.

BCB, Favre didn't put Green Bay on the mapVince Lombardi and Bart Starr put Green Bay on the map, they won the first two super bowls. Favre is amazing don't get me wrong....his drama is getting a little old though. It's time for him to hang it up, the Packers won't do anything this year, they'll be at best a .500 team. It's sad watching this guy out on the field, it's like watching Patrick Ewing when he was on the Orlando Magic, just hang it up already.

Thurman, Tatupu and Merriman all played at a pro-bowl level. But I wouldn't expect you to know that. A.J. Hawk is the best linebacker prospect to come out in years and Abdul Hodge was the second rated ILB in the draft and he's going be a monster for us.
