I got the red ring of death a few months ago, turns out it was an easy fix. I just needed to unplug and re-plug in the AV cord. Problem solved. A week later I get the red ring of death again. This time it's not the AV cord. I needs to be sent in. FML
I used to have a PS3 and I absolutely loved it. My brothers wanted to play on Xbox Live with friends so we sold the PS3 and got an Xbox. I do have to say I like playing with my friends, but I still would rather have a PS3.
its funny, I remember PS2's failing quite a bit as well due to some garbage crap with DVD playback or something. Funny how that is forgotted Sucks for me who went from PS2 to 360 and experienced the crap both consoles give lol.
Straight up I'll never buy a gaming system that makes you pay additional money for online play. That is bullshit at the highest level.
really? I never viewed it that way.. I just always thought that keeping servers going etc costs money. Maybe I'm just a dipwit though lol.
Wheels man, i thought you were going to buy a ps3? I still haven't done anything about my xbox getting fixed and i could care less, barely played it to begin with.
I was thinking about it. I just couldnt find reason enough to where I would use it that much. I got a core group of people I play games with on Xbox that dont have PS3.. so I would be leaving a group. I already left what I knew for so many years at O-live.. dont make me do it again lol.
It is a racket. I play the same games on PC's all the time and never have to pay for access, nor do I ever have to pay for patches. PS3 doesn't make you pay for online play either. The reason you are paying, is because Microsoft wants their subscription service income which makes their business model look great. There have been game browser services which don't charge for years, which is essentially what they make you pay for. The actual game servers, are folks running the games on their consoles, themselves, or the application maker running their own private servers. All Microsoft does, is let you browse to them, and charges you an assload for it.
I love my Xbox 360. $50 a year is reasonable to me to the stuff I get with XBoxLive. I am sure I'd love PS3 also. I have had XBOX fail too... and it is frustrating... but they have extended the warrenty and repaired for free.
basically how I see it. $50 a year is reasonable enough for me, to be able to play with friends. And if I get stuff like Netflix too which we use a lot, it works all for me.
Sometimes paying a little weeds out the riff-raff... and they have better control over hacks etc... I think Netflix is coming to PS3 if it isn't already... actually I think they had an exclusive deal with only Xbox360 so they did some type of workaround where you have to put a netflix dvd in the PS3 and then you can stream... somethign like that. I like last.fm too... checking out Facebook while waiting for my wife to watch a movie... etc...
Yeah, you can get netflix on the ps3, but as Paxil said you need a disc, but there is supposedly going to be a firmware update later on in the year to just have it in the menu i think. You can also get all of that other stuff with the web browser. Lol i really come off sounding like an xbox hater.
its actually good to know. I didnt know you could watch netflix on PS3 lol... hater! I think another thing keeping me away... I HATE their controllers. I hated them even in the PS1 days.
about a week ago while watching a dvd, my PS3's fan went really REALLY loud, I turned the system off and when I turned it back on I got the Red Light of Death. I'm fucking gutted. I don't really play games anymore but I used the thing everyday to watch dvd/blu ray, watch sports online, suff from youtube, atdhe and justin.tv and it was PERFECT to watch all my torrent downloads. I don't know what to do. I sure as fuck couldn't do the heat gun trick on my own and I'm not sure I want to spend $150 for sony to fix it only to have it go down again in 3 months. Considering one of these.... http://www.artofsale.net/Magento/index.php/samsung-dvdh1080-upconverting-dvd-player-dvd-h1080.html?___store=default but it just won't be the same.
