    Top UFC Welterweights
    1. Georges St. Pierre (20-2, 14-2 UFC, 6 fight win streak) (Champion)
    2. Jon Fitch (22-3, 12-1 UFC, 4 fight win streak)
    3. Thiago Alves (16-6, 9-3 UFC, lost last fight)
    4. Paulo Thiago (13-1, 4-1 UFC, won last two fights)
    5. Josh Koscheck (16-4, 12-4 UFC, won last two fights)
    6. Dan Hardy (23-7, 4-1 UFC, lost last fight)
    7. Paul Daley (23-8-2, 2-0 UFC, won last two fights)
    8. Martin Kampmann (16-3, 7-2 UFC, won last fight)
    9. Mike Swick (14-4, 9-3 UFC, lost last two fights)
    10. Matt Serra (10-6, 7-6 UFC, won last fight)

    Upcoming fights:

Fitch vs. Alves (late May/early June)
Thiago vs. Kampann (UFC 115, June)
Koscheck vs. Daley (UFC 113, May)

The dilemma the UFC faces with GSP's next title defence is evident: he's faced five of the top nine contenders already and the clear-cut number two (Fitch) promises to be another squash. To make matters worse, fan interest in another fight between St. Pierre and Fitch, Alves, or Koscheck is low.

When asked if Fitch was the top contender, The Baldfather ducked the question by saying Fitch was "in the mix." He might have just said "no." White implied that a Fitch/Koscheck fight to determine the next fight with St. Pierre should be arranged but Fitch turned it down immediately. It is what White was hoping he'd do--now if anyone asks why Fitch isn't going to get the next shot, White can point to his reluctance to fight Koscheck. "He must not want it that bad."

Rumour has it that if Koscheck can get past Paul Daley, and given Koscheck's good wrestling and top control and Daley's vulnerability on his back it should be the favourite outcome, Koscheck and St. Pierre will face-off as opposing coaches on the next season of The Ultimate Fighter. The timing of the show will allow the UFC's welterweight division to sort itself out a bit in the meantime with Fitch/Alves and other similar title eliminators taking place. It would also build up interest in a St. Pierre/Koscheck rematch from 2007 that fans otherwise would be lukewarm to.

Another rumour has the UFC snapping up Jake Shields if and when he loses to Dan Henderson next month and immediately throwing him into the title mix. Of all the fighters in the welterweight division St. Pierre would strike with Shields the most, given Shields' ground acumen and obvious lack of striking technique.

Lame sauce. Move up already, GSP.

I don't see anyone @ 170 posing an even remote challenge to him.
